Jay was asleep until he suddenly awoke, realizing he wasn't in his apartment.

Reaching for his phone, Jay knocked his shirt off the table and picked up the device.

Lindsay's message read:

I had to take the kids to school and drop Nadia at Gloria's.

I expect to see you at the bullpen in 10.

Jay sighed, pushing himself upright.

Dressing, Jay noticed Abby engrossed in her phone.

"You seemed stressed last night. After a few beers, you really opened up..." Abby acknowledged with a nod.

Jay gave Abby a weary look and responded.

"Yeah? Well, thanks," Jay said, returning the nod.

Abby's smirk emerged as she spoke.

"You also spilled about Michael? Sounds like quite the dumbass!" Abby chuckled.

Jay finished buttoning his shirt and fastened his belt.

"Don't even say his name..." Jay commanded.

He grabbed his jumper, flung the door open, and instructed,

"Latch the door when you leave!" Jay called out.

With the door slamming behind him, Jay set off towards the district.

Jay quickly entered the bullpen, sunglasses on and coffee in hand.

Hank ceased his activity and observed his detective's arrival.

"Alright, that's it for now! Back to your paperwork," Hank commanded.

The team acknowledged with nods and resumed their seats at their desks. Hank then turned his attention to Jay.

"Halstead, can I have a word?" Hank inquired.

Jay gave a nod and proceeded into Hank's office.

"What's up?" inquired Jay.

Hank took a seat and responded.

"Where have you been?" Hank questioned.

Jay exhaled deeply and answered.

"I was at Molly's. She must have made me drunk! I had only intended to stay for a couple of hours!" Jay fabricated the story about being at Molly's.

Hank nodded, folding his arms.

"You know who you're resembling at this moment? Your father..." Hank remarked.

Jay sighed and took a seat.

"I need a detective for a case, and Erin's out picking up the kids. Are you sober enough to handle an undercover job?" Hank inquired.

Jay rose to his feet and nodded affirmatively.

"Absolutely," he asserted.

Hank returned the nod and detailed the assignment.

Before long, Jay was entering the bar, swiping a chair from an empty table, and setting it down opposite the suspects he was assigned to work with.

Matt, the ringleader of the group, was the first to speak.

""What do you want?" Matt asked.

Jay smirked and displayed his badge.

"Chicago PD," Jay declared, smiling.

Matt leaned back, exhaling deeply.

"How may I help the esteemed Chicago Police Department?" Matt asked with a smirk.
