The unit were all at the bullpen and Erin and Jay still didn't know about their kids coming home. It was surprise!
Cassie, Ashlyn, and Nadia were in their foster parents' car, heading towards the district.
"We're finally going to see mama and daddy!" Ashlyn exclaimed.
Cassie nodded, unable to contain the excitement coursing through her bones.
The car came to a stop, and Louise opened the door.
"Let's go!" said Louise with a smile.
Cassie and Ashlyn climbed out of the backseat, while Louise cradled Nadia, who continued to cry.
"Is your baby sister always like this?" asked Louise.
Cassie shook her head and smiled.
"Nope! It's just that she doesn't like being in a stranger's arms," Cassie explained with a smile.
Louise sighed and gently tried to soothe Nadia.
As the girls ascended the stairs, the entire unit gathered around.
"KIM! ADAM!" Cassie yelled.
Kim and Adam enveloped their nieces in a tight embrace.
"Where's mama and daddy?" Ashlyn inquired.
Antonio approached and cradled Nadia in his arms.
"I'll fetch them!" Kim declared with a smile.
Kim headed towards the breakroom, still smiling.
"Kim? Did you wet your pants? You haven't smiled like that since high school..." Jay remarked.
Kim shook her head and let out a sigh.
"That was just one time! Besides, I have a surprise for you two!" Kim beamed.
Erin and Jay exchanged glances and stepped out of the breakroom.
Jay's cup slipped from his grasp, shattering into fragments.
"DADDY!" Ashlyn called out.
Jay's smile wavered as he fought back tears.
"Hello, my babies!" Jay greeted, smiling through sniffles.
Cassie and Ashlyn dashed towards him, and Antonio passed Nadia to Erin.
"Hello, my baby! My sweet little girl..." Erin cooed.
Nadia made a gurgling sound and closed her eyes.
"I've missed you both so much..." Jay cried.
Cassie stepped back and offered a comforting smile.
"Don't cry, daddy! We're here now!" Cassie reassured.
Jay nodded and gathered the girls back into his embrace.
"Daddy? Miss Rose didn't change my diaper, or Nadia's..." Ashlyn admitted.
Jay nodded, took Ashlyn's hand, and Erin followed them to the locker room.
"Wait! They haven't seen their kids in ages! Let them have a few hours to settle back in..." Antonio suggested.
Louise nodded and sighed in agreement.
After Awhile, the Halstead's returned home, and the girls retreated to their bedrooms.
Erin rocked and sang Nadia to sleep before gently placing her in the bassinet.
"She's drifted off," Erin whispered.
She tenderly covered Nadia with a blanket.
"I've missed all this," Jay whispered back.
Erin nodded and snuggled into Jay's embrace.
"We don't have to worry about anything now. Our girls are back, and nothing will separate them from us again," Erin vowed.
Jay nodded and closed his eyes.
