The unit was in the bullpen, working on a case.

Erin stood up and placed a picture of their suspect on the evidence board.

"Meet Kyle Rodgers: two prior convictions for aggravated battery and attempted murder. He also did a stint for statutory rape in Gen-Pop. He was released on bail two weeks ago," Jay explained.

Hank nodded, and with that. Erin ended the call with Med.

"That was Med! Rodger's gunshot victim? She just died..." Erin revealed.

The team all sighed and looked at Hank.

"Do we have a last known address for Rodgers?" Hank inquired.

Jay nodded and announced, "1972 South Racine."

Hank surveyed his team and gave a firm nod.

"Alright, let's bring him in!" Hank commanded.

The team hurried out and boarded their vehicles.

Erin and Antonio headed to the rear, while the others approached from the front.

Gunfire erupted, and the team responded in kind, but Jay was immobilized by shock.

Hailey, noticing his state, tried to get his attention.

"Jay?" she called out.

When he didn't respond, her concern turned to frustration.

"JAY!" Hailey yelled, louder this time.

Jay remained silent, prompting Hailey to turn to Adam.

"Adam!" she called out.

Adam glanced in their direction and approached.

"What's going on?" he inquired.

Hailey faced Adam, concern etching her features.

"It's Jay... he seems to be in a trance or something. He won't respond to me," she explained.

Adam stepped closer and gently touched Jay's shoulder, a sense of worry washing over him as he recognized the signs.

"Lindsay, come to the front yard, please! It's Jay," Adam urgently communicated through the radio.

Erin's complexion turned ashen—had Jay been shot?

"On my way!" Erin communicated through the radio.

Erin and Antonio hurried over, and that's when Erin saw Jay sitting motionless.

"Has he been shot?" Erin inquired.

Adam just shrugged and glanced at Hailey.

"Upton? She's asking you a question!" Antonio interjected.

Hailey shook her head and looked away.

"Okay, Jay? Can you hear me?" Erin called out.

Jay stared ahead, and Erin understood the situation.

"Damn, he's back in Afghanistan mentally," Erin muttered.

The team sighed collectively and observed as Erin assisted Jay.

Erin carefully removed Jay's vest and passed it to Hank.

"Will he be okay?" Hailey questioned.

Erin nodded and responded softly.

"Just give me a few minutes..." Erin murmured.

Soon, Jay snapped out of his daze and noticed everyone around him.

"You're alright, kiddo," Hank reassured.

Jay began to cry and reached out to be held.

Erin realized her husband needed to be held, and she was there for him.

"I've got you, baby. I've got you..." Erin comforted.

Jay cried and clung to Erin with all his might.

"Take him home, Erin," Hank said with a nod.

Erin returned the nod and leaned in to whisper to Jay.

"Babe, we're going home," She murmured.

Jay gave a weak nod, and Hank took care of Jay's firearm.

"Don't worry. Jay! We've got Rodgers!" Antonio reassured.

Jay smiled and walked away with Erin.

The team all walked back to their trucks and got inside.

Erin and Jay soon got to the apartment and Erin was making Jay some chamomile tea.

"Here's your PTSD Medication. Take one and here's some tea." Erin smiled.

Jay smiled and took one pill from the blister pack and downed it with tea.

"Chamomile?" Jay asked.

Erin smiled and nodded.

"Yeah! It's suppose to help you sleep and calm down?" Erin responded.

Jay nodded and placed the mug down.

Later. Erin and Jay were fast asleep in bed.
