SMUT!

Erin and Jay were in the bullpen when Jay received some unexpected news.

"Halstead? Can I borrow you for a second?" Hank inquired.

Jay nodded and entered Hank's office.

"What's up?" Jay questioned.

Hank sat down and began.

"I want you to take the sergeant's exam," Hank said, starting the conversation.

Jay, taken aback, sat down.

"What? Are you retiring?" Jay asked.

Hank shook his head.

"No, no. I've been thinking, and I really want you to take the sergeant's exam. To be honest, I think you'd excel. You're already leading this unit!" Hank elaborated.

Jay was stunned; the thought of the exam had never crossed his mind.

"Really? Voight. I'm grateful, but..." Jay trailed off.

"But...?" Hank prompted.

Jay shook his head, a smile breaking through.

"Nothing! I'd be honored..." Jay's smile widened.

Hank returned the smile with a nod.

"Thanks!" Jay acknowledged with a nod of his own.

Closing the door, Jay returned to his desk.

"What was that all about?" Erin inquired.

Jay just shook his head, the smile lingering.

"Alright! I haven't seen Jay smile like that since he made detective. What's going on?" Erin pressed.

Jay sighed and confessed, "Hank wants me to take the sergeant's exam," he revealed.

The team fell silent before rushing over to embrace Jay.

Jay laughed as Adam swept him into his arms and spun him around. However, Adam spun too quickly.

After setting Jay down, he staggered unsteadily.

"E-Erin... Why's the room spinning?" Jay asked with a slur.

Erin chuckled, taking Jay's hand.

"Adam might have spun you a little too vigorously," She said, still laughing.

Adam apologized and gave a soft laugh.

"When are you taking the exam?" Antonio inquired.

Jay shrugged in response.

"Hank hasn't said an exact time," Jay said, shaking his head.

The team nodded in understanding and returned their attention to their paperwork.

Erin smiled, patting Jay's shoulder reassuringly.

"You're going to do great," She affirmed with a nod.

Jay smiled and gave a nod of acknowledgment.

As the day reached its midpoint, Katy rushed in, breathless.

Erin looked up, recognizing her sister-in-law.

"kat?" She called out.

Katy's gaze lifted, and she hurried over.
