172: Gray VS Gems

Normal P.O.V

Elfman and Lisanna were battling Ajeel, while Mira was taking care of Jacob. And Rogue and Minerva were stopping Bloodman and Wall Eehto.

“Purifying Truth: Firmament!” Gildarts just punched and created a whole path for everyone. Erza's squad remained together.

“Let's go!” Gray ordered as he ran grabbing Gems's wrist again. Natsu, Lucy and Happy followed. The route was jumbled because of Irene's magic spell.

“Fire Dragon Roar!” Natsu launched his attack, after sensing a strong magical energy around them. He launched his attack right at the enemy's army.

“It's one of the twelve...” Gems mumbled.

But before Natsu's fire could touch anyone or anything, it completely froze, and it was was frozen just within a blink of an eye.

“What's the big idea, Gray!?” Natsu complained as it was started to get cold, the temperature was dropping every passing second, with cold breathe escaping their mouth everytime they spoke.

“It wasn't me!” Gray immediately fired back. “This coldness, though...” He added looking here and there.

“I'm cold!” Gems complained as he hugged himself. “My whole body is going numb...” He mumbled while shivering.

Gray looked at Gems with concern in his eyes as he knew Gems would catch cold easily, Gray's eyes widened when he noticed that Gems's wings were starting to freeze. Gray immediately removed his coat and made Gems wear it.

“Burn up!” Natsu yelled as he gritted his teeth and created huge flames of fires providing everyone with much needed warmth. Both those flames froze as well.

“No way...” Natsu was shocked and so were the others. But before he could say anything else, he himself was frozen.

“Gra—” Gems was about to say something, but he got covered in the same ice as well and stood frozen.

Gray's eyes widened upon seeing that. “Gems! Lucy! Natsu! Happy!” Gray yelled in shock. “Gems! Gems! I'm gonna free you!” Gray added but he didn't know what he had to do.

“Oh-ho. It would seem you're resistant to cold.” Gray immediately turned his head upon hearing that. It was Invel Yura, one of the twelve.

It was a glasses wearing ice user. It was the winter wizard Makarov was talking about the other day. Gray immediately jumped in the air and was ready to attack him.

“All right! You—” But before he could attack, felt striking pain on his sides as he was shoved into the debris of the buildings to his right, as he got attacked by Invel's ice spell.

When Gray regained his senses, he noticed that his left side was covered in ice. His eyes widened. But before he could react, he got attacked again. Gray screamed in agony.

‘This feeling....!’ Gray was hurt.

“My name is Invel Yura. I change all into winter.” he introduced himself as controlled the ice with just his fingers. Meanwhile Gray was struggling. “Your meager coldness cannot surpass my winter.” Invel told.

‘I-I actually feel c-cold!’ Gray thought as he tried to get up. He was shocked, because he thought he was immune to cold. ‘My body...its starting to freeze...’ he thought as he touched himself and felt he was getting cold, as he looked at Gems and his friends who were still frozen.

Invel smirked and moved his hand, launching another attack at Gray.

“Ice Make: Shield!” instincts kicked in and Gray defended himself. After being on the defensive, Gray decided to go on the offensive.
