Josh POV
Its been two weeks since we confirmed the pregnancy and found out about the sitcom. Colleen has finalized the show and signed the papers. I am so proud of her. We call the entire family and ask them to come to our house for a big BBQ this Saturday. We are going to announce the pregnancy and the sitcom. I watch Colleen laying on the couch while she watches Netflix as I edit and she seems super quiet. I stand up and walk over to her. As she sees me she moves over on the couch so I can sit down. "Baby whats wrong?" I ask her stroking her face. "You don't seem happy" I add. "Its too much at once" she whispers. "The baby and the sitcom babe?" I ask concerned. She nods grabbing me. "We should have waited. We should have waited a year like I originally wanted" she says. "Colleen....you will be fine babe" I say. "You aren't pregnant Josh. I am exhausted already. Plus writing a sitcom will be like 12-16 hour days. I should have listened to myself" she says. I stand up and walk back over to the kitchen table upset. I know she doesn't mean to upset me but she always puts work first. I sit down at the laptop and continue working. Or at least trying. Knowing Colleen is not happy is not sitting well with me. I hear her stir behind me as she leaps off the couch and runs down the hallway. I get up and run after her and make it to the bathroom doorway as I see her vomiting. I slide beside her and rub her back. She is grippin my hand tight. She is terrified of throwing up. "Babe you are fine...its just the baby" I say. She finally stops and leans against my chest. "Ok?" I ask. "No" she says as she gets up and climbs into bed. "Not feeling well at all" she says. I cover her up and ask her if she needs anything. I leave her to sleep and go back out to the living room.
An hour later I hear Colleen screaming. I run down the hallway and run into our room. Colleen is kneeling on the floor "Joshua...oh my god babe" she says as she rolls over to her side grabbing her stomach. "Colleen...you in pain sweetheart?" I ask grabbing her. She nods sobbing. I pick her up and bring her to the car. "Colleen just breathe babe" I say crying myself. " Its the baby" she cries. I pull up to the emergency and her shorts are covered in blood. A nurse guides me down to a stretcher and nurses and doctors come rushing up to us. They pull us into a cubicle area that's private and start stripping her down. "She is almost 8 weeks pregnant" I say crying. They get an IV in her and give her a shot for the pain. I grab her hand as the doctor examines her stomach with ultrasound. "Colleen its ectopic pregnancy. The baby is growing in your tubes. It should be in your uterus. It is growing so it is expanding your tube causing you extreme pain. We need to terminate it right now. We will prep you for a DNC to basically eliminate it" the doctor says to her as I listen as well. Colleen is sobbing. "I should never have said those things earlier. Its karma" she says grabbing my hand. "You did nothing baby" I say kissing her hand. We get rolled down a hallway and I get in a gown and mask. I walk into the sterile room and sit beside Colleen who is half out of it as they drugged her to keep her comfortable. I see them put her legs in stirrups and the doctor is looking at the ultrasound the nurse is doing as he goes through her to find the baby. I close my eyes and then look down at her. She is looking at me. "Ok Colleen?" I ask rubbing her face. She nods. "I am so sorry Josh" she cries. "Ok we got it. Can we flush her please" I hear the doctor say. I start to cry. I see the doctor look at the ultrasound again and shake his head. "Mr Evans her left fallopian tube is totally ruined. The baby grew too much and caused too much scar tissue as the tube tried to compensate. Her right side is fine still so pregnancy could happen again just a 50% success rate than before" he says to me. I nod and look down at Colleen. This is devastating news.
