Colleen POV
Today I am 20 weeks and on set of my Tv show. I am sitting down but feel exhausted as I have been here since 6 am and its now 3:30pm. Josh texts me that he is waiting outside to bring me to my doctor appointment. I say goodbye to everyone on the set and slowly make my way out to him. One of the crew sees me stop and comes up to me. "Are you ok Colleen?" he asks me. "Baby is kicking" I smile. "Want some help to your car? You have too many bags. Let me carry them" he offers. I cling onto his arm and see Josh's car. "My husband is right there" I say pointing to the Grey Toyota. Josh is singing in his car staring straight ahead and doesn't see us until I am about 50 feet away. He jumps out of the car and rushes over to me. "Colleen...whats going on?" he asks. 'Baby is kicking and too many bags" I says smiling as I take Josh's arm. "Thanks so much" Josh says to the crew guy. He lowers me in the car and I see a tea and some cookies sitting in the console. I instantly start munching on them. Josh slides into the drivers side. "Well I guess you found the cookies" he says laughing. I nod smiling with my mouth full.
We make it to the doctors appointment and I have to drink a nasty sugary drink and get blood drawn after to see if I have preeclampsia, a diabetes found in pregnant women. I take the last sip and literally I am about to puke. They wait 20 minutes and take some blood as I look away. We get escorted into the exam room and I sit up on the bed waiting for the doctor. Dr Samson walks in and greets us. "How are you doing Colleen?" she asks smiling. "Just tired" I say. "Normal" she says. I hear a knock at the door and a nurse passes over some paperwork to the doctor. The doctor reads it and stares at me. "What?" I ask. "You have preeclampsia" she says. "Will the baby be ok?" I ask holding onto Josh. "Just need to watch you closely. It can affect your organs and the baby's organs and brain development" she says. I nod with tears in my eyes. "Colleen its okay. Thousands of women get this. Just need to watch your sugar intake. You will need to do blood sugar checks multiple times of day and No stress whatsoever. Have you been tired lately or weak?" she asks. I nod . "I have been yes" I say as I look at Josh. "Josh you watch her please" the doctor says to him as he nods.
"On a happier note lets see if we can tell if this is a boy or a girl ok?" she says. "Yes please" I say as I lay down with Josh's help. We all look at the screen closely while the ultrasound wand goes over my stomach. "Ready?" she says smiling. We both nod. "It is a baby girl...Congrats!" she says. Josh leans down to hug me as I cry. "Lily is coming baby" he says crying. "Congrats again" the doctor says. I raise myself back up after the usual check up and the doctor brings out the strips and blood machine. She shows me how to prick my fingers and to rub the blood on a strip and slide it into the machine for it to read. "I want the readings below 13 but not below 6. If they get higher I want you in here asap and if they get lower than 6 eat some sugar" she says. "Okay we will" I say hopping off the table. The doctor walks out and Josh pulls me into him. "We are having a daughter baby" he says. "I can't believe it" I say smiling kissing his lips hard. We walk out and are so excited about the upcoming birth of Lily.
