Josh POV
Colleen is in the room with the diabetic team getting her pump line inserted into her stomach as I sit and wait. "Mr Evans we are done come on in" one of the nurses says. I see Colleen sitting with a bra on and a line hanging out of her lower stomach. She looks at for my reaction. I smile and grab her hand. "Ok so I am just going to attach the pump and turn it on. It should be attached as much as possible unless you are showering or swimming. It will measure your blood sugar and give you the correct dose of insulin on its own. You don't need anymore needles. It will beep when you are low on insulin supply or are crashing which is extremely rare" the doctor says. "Seems easy hey babe? Look how small it is" Colleen says holding this credit card size machine in her hand. "Its amazing babe. So much better" I say hugging her as she seems thrilled. The doctor clicks the machine on and snaps it onto her line. She puts her shirt back on and we walk out to the car. "I feel less worried" she says. "Me too" I say.
We drive home and Colleen shows Rachel her new machine and tells her what the doctor said. Rachel looks relieved. She hugs Colleen and then goes home. I start making a bbq dinner as Colleen makes some salad and rice. I feel it in the air that even though her news wasn't the best there was there was something we could do to help and Colleen is settled in her mind.A month later Colleen has finished her dialysis and antibiotics and we are back to see the results of the second MRI Colleen took yesterday. The doctor walks in and is all smiles. "Colleen your kidneys look amazing. Your system is much happier" the doctor says. "You will always have kidney damage but it looks like we have it halted, but I want to schedule another test in 3 months to make sure" he says. I get up and hug Colleen as the doctor leaves. "Babe I am so happy" I say hugging her. "Me too. Lets go get Noah looked at for his six week checkup" she says as I nod and scoop up his car seat as he sleeps.
We make our way to the doctor with Noah and both, him and Colleen get a clean bill of health. "I am so done with doctors for a while" she says. "Me too babe but let me know if you notice anything at any time. I will be upset if you don't tell me" I say as we drive home. "I will Josh" she says smiling. We are going out for dinner, just her and I tonight as Gwen comes and picks up the kids. We want to celebrate.
