Josh POV
Colleen has been working day and night for the past two weeks. She is nearly 12 weeks. The only time Lily and I see her is when we walk over to her office every lunch and dinner. We all eat together and this way I keep my eye on her. Today at lunch I remind her that her parents, Rachel and Matt and Trent are flying in around 4:30pm so to end her day early. We have the whole weekend to enjoy together while she isn't working. "I might have to work Saturday for a bit" she says cautiously. "Colleen you need a few days off please" I beg. "I will try" she replies. Lily and I end our lunch short so she can finish early. We walk down a few blocks and head to the Central Park zoo to enjoy the sunshine. Eventually Lily falls asleep in her stroller so I make my way home until I get call from Brenda. "Josh?" She says. "Yes? Hey Brenda" I reply plugging my other ear so I can hear her on the noisy NYC street. "Can you come back to the office... Something is happening with Colleen. She is acting weird. I am concerned" she says. I agree and head over to her office at a quicker pace. I make my way to the building and see Brenda waiting for me. "Whats happening?" I ask. "She isn't making any sense when she talks sometimes. She is sweating and she won't take anything food wise from me" she says. I walk behind her and up to Colleen's office. I see Colleen sitting at her desk with another woman. As I approach the other woman leaves nodding as if she was sitting with Colleen to make sure she was ok. "Baby" I say as I walk up to her. "Feeling ok?" I ask. "Yes I was just telling Olivia that we are going to get pumpkins for Halloween this weekend" she says. Halloween is months away. "Colleen can you eat this candy. Lily and I just bought it. I want to see if you like it" I say lying. "I don't want it" she says. "Please baby.... For Lily" I say. She takes it and eats it and I can see her eyes registering better. She smiles at me. "Can I check your sugar babe?" I ask. She nods and I do. It reads 22.7. This is weird that she is showing symptoms of low blood sugar but is spiking. "Come on babe. Time to go" I say as I jump on the phone of her diabetic specialist in NYC. He tells me its because of the baby development and hormone changes are messing with her sugars. He wants to see us now. I say goodbye to Brenda and walk over another block to his office. He takes her right away as she is now so tired and laying on the exam table. He takes some blood from her checks her blood sugar and hormones. "I see this all the time with pregnant diabetic women" he says. He gives her a shot and she starts waking up. "Baby you ok?" I ask her crouching down to her level. "Why am I here? " she asks. I explain it to her and the doctor does as well and puts her on another injection and strict meal times. We both thank the doctor and make our way home to family that are arriving any minute.
