Colleen POV
The next few weeks I take it real easy. I eat everything that is safe and stay with my diet to control my sugars. I also hired an RN and midwife and I feel totally comfortable with them. I am only 10 days away from my due date and today I have the midwife coming over to do my weekly checkup. Josh answers the door and brings Katie and Tara back to me in the bedroom. "Colleen, Katie is here with Tara" Josh says. "Hi guys" I say as I sit on the bed. "Gotten bigger I think?" Tara says as she kneels in front of me. "I think you are correct" I say rubbing my belly as Josh sits beside me. Tara takes my blood pressure and sugars and writes them down in the chart. "Looks good Colleen. Whatever you are doing is working" she says smiling at me. "She is relaxing" Josh says smiling at me. "Ok medically you are good" Tara says standing up. Katie walks over to me and lays me down feeling around my stomach. She pulls her mini doppler device out for listening to Lilys heartbeat. I hear the heartbeat and it sounds so fast. I smile at Josh. "She is almost here guys" she says to us smiling. Josh has tears in his eyes. She measures my belly. "My guess is she will be about 8.5 lbs" Katie says. "Colleen need to do an internal to see if you are dilated" Katie says. I nod and I slide my shorts and underwear off. Josh is grabbing my hand smiling at me. Katie puts gloves on and reaches inside of me. "You are at 1cm. You still have a bit I think Colleen" she says standing up. "Any other concerns guys?" Katie asks. "When should we call you?" Josh asks. "Josh you call for us whenever you need us. Usually most people will call us when the contractions are 6 minutes apart" Katie says. "Ok" I say. "You will know when things get tense with Colleen when the best time is" Katie tells Josh. I start to put my shorts on and Josh and I walk them out. Josh closes the front door and hugs me. "Can't wait" he says.
An hour later I walk into the man cave to see what Josh is up to. "Colleen when is Rachel getting here?" Josh asks. "Soon" I say looking at my phone. "Josh just go to your meeting" I say. "No way, not until someone is here with you" he says. Josh has to run to 2 meetings and go by my brothers house for some props for WHATS UP INTERNET. "Okay" I say. I grab a bottled water and sit on the front porch in the sunshine talking to Lily as we wait for Rachel.
