Colleen pov
I wake up in serious pain since they turned off my nerve numbing medicine in my leg IV. I grab onto the bedrail and stare at the ceiling as I hear Josh slowly breathing as he sleeps on the pull out couch. I buzz the nurse and she walks in quietly. "Can I please get some more pain meds?" I ask. "In about 30 minutes. I gave you some 3 and a half hours ago and the doctors orders say every 4 hours. Can I give you an ice pack to numb your back for now?" She asks grabbing my hand. I nod yes. I hear Josh wake up and walk over to me. "In pain baby?" He asks. "So much" I say grabbing his hand. The nurse walks in rolls me on my side and props me up with pillows on either side with the ice pack in between myself and the pillow. She turns to leave as Josh bends down to face me. I smile as tears run down my face. He leans in and kisses me tenderly on the lips. I kiss him back. "I miss you baby" I say kissing him again. "Colleen, I am always right here babe" he says. He sits on my bed talking to me about the kids and Hawaii and just about anything else he can think of to keep my mind on anything but my back. "30 minutes is up babe. Time to get you sleeping" he says going to get up. The nurse walks in with a shot. "I put a reminder on my phone" she says smiling. She gives me a needle in my butt and within minutes my pain goes away. My eyes are so tired as Josh smiles at me as he watches me fall asleep .
I wake up a few hours later with the nurses fiddling with the IV beside me. "Morning. Going to remove the catheter and get you walking today" she says. Josh comes over. "You look so tired babe" I say looking at him. "I am good. Just concerned" he says. "Mr Evans just give us a second with her" the nurse says. He nods and goes back to the couch as she pulls the curtain closed. She reaches inside me and detaches the catheter. "Feel better?" She asks. "Yes thanks" I say. "Ok you and Joshua can start moving now" she says as she opens the curtain. Josh walks up smiling. "Lets go!" I say. Josh puts my housecoat on and some slippers my mom brought me and we swing my legs over the side. I wrap my arms around his neck and he puts his hand on my waist as I slide off the bed. "Doing so good baby" he says. I stand there and hug him. Really hug him. "I missed your hugs " I say. "Missed you too" he says. "Love you so much Joshua" I say. I wrap my arm around his waist and we slowly walk to the elevator. "Lets go to the cafeteria" I say looking at Josh. "Sure" he says. We slowly make our way down as people smile at us walking by. Joshua sits me down and goes to get us some drinks and himself some food. "Feels good to be semi normal" I say as I reach for him. "Babe you are almost out of here. Hawaii here we come" he says smiling kissing my hand. "Cannot wait" I say " I want to travel with the entire family" I say.
