Colleen POV

I am crying uncontrollably as I replay the doctors words in my mind. "Your baby may have sustained irreversible damage". I shut my eyes and try to clear my mind. The baby will be fine right? I rub my stomach and pray to god. This stupid diabetes and the pump I never wanted might have killed or severely harmed my baby. I hear Rachel leave and Josh walk down the hallway. "Babe. Rachel told me what the doctor said. I don't know what to say" he says crying sitting beside me. I sit up and grab him and cry for a good 5 minutes. "Oh my god baby" he sobs hugging me tighter listening to me I think is making him worse. "Okay okay enough. We have to calm down babe" I say laying back down taking deep breaths. He nods and wipes his face. He leans down and kisses my bare stomach. I can actually hear him praying to god to keep the baby safe. I run my fingers through his hair and bring him up to me to kiss. We lay there all night holding onto each other with him rubbing my back.

The next day I am laying in the hospital room waiting for the doctor. "Mrs Evans?" a doctor says as he walks in. "Yes. Nice to meet you. This is my husband Joshua" I say trying to smile. "Well I heard what happened so lets make sure the baby and you are fine" he says. He takes some blood from me and takes my blood pressure. I see him put on gloves and grabs the internal ultrasound . "Trying to find a heartbeat" he explains. I lay still and I hear nothing. I start to cry covering my mouth and look at Josh. "One second Mrs Evans" he says. I hear a faint sound. "Thank god" I say grabbing Josh. "Ok its very slow but I think that will be better each day as the excess insulin disperses from your system" he says removing the ultrasound. "I would like to flush your system so to speak" he says. "You can go home with this and come back tomorrow so I can recheck you" he says. He hooks a normal saline bag up to my insulin line and starts it. "Now as for you I will let another physician double check your levels to make sure it hasn't done any damage. I see from your chart your kidneys were damaged already. I would like to do that now?" he asks. I nod and Josh nods yes as well. Josh grabs my hand. They send me for an emergency MRI looking for more damage on my kidneys due to the excessive amount of insulin. I come back to Joshua who was waiting in the waiting room and we go home and wait for the results until tomorrow. I grab Joshs hand on the way home. "Lets keep everything normal at home to not worry Rachel or Lily ok?" I say. "Yes babe of course. Nothing will be wrong anyways" he says as he looks back at the road. My luck can't get any worse.
