Josh POV
I hold Colleens hand as I drive to the doctors office. "Doing ok baby?" I ask looking over at her. She nods with her eyes closed but I can tell she is uncomfortable. I reach the doctors office and step out of the car and run over to Colleens side to help her out. "Josh you need to carry me babe please" she says. I lean in and grab her and carry her in. The doctor is standing beside the receptionists desk waiting for her. He ushers us down the hall and asks me to put her on the exam bed. He starts pressing on her stomach lightly and she just about looses it. "Her kidneys have a huge backup" he says. He gives her a shot to push her kidneys to work and he asks us to see if she can pee now. "So embarrassing" she says as I bring her to the washroom. "Babe we need to get this fixed sweetheart. I saw you have two babies. This is nothing" I say smiling. She pees for like 4 minutes straight. "Oh my god I feel so much better" she says smiling. I help her back with the sample to give to the doctor to test. The doctor takes it and leaves the room and comes back about 5 minutes later. "The good news is it's a bladder and kidney infection which we can solve with medication" he says to Colleen. "The bad news?" she asks. "Your kidneys are slowing down again" he says. Colleen starts to cry. He sits down in front of her as I sit beside her holding her hand. "I think there is too much damage Colleen, but the urine test and MRI will tell us more" he says. He lays her down on the table again and runs a ultrasound over her and says nothing. "I want an MRI done now" he says. "Let me call my friend at the hospital to see if they have any time. Usually it takes months to get in" he says. He walks over to the phone on his wall and calls as Colleen leans into me quietly crying. "Colleen it will be fine. You need to get fixed" I say kissing her cheek. She nods and wipes her face. "Colleen can you and Josh go there for 2am?" he asks. "Yes we will" I say. "MRI is open 24 hours a day. Go to the hospital at around 1:30am to the Radiology department. They are going to read it immediately. Come back tomorrow after lunch" he says. We say goodbye and walk out slowly. Colleen is worried. "Baby, the doctor will help you. I am not worried" I say as we climb in the car. Inside I am terrified.
I bring her home after stopping at the pharmacy to get her meds and she cuddles with Rachel on the couch. Rachel is staying the night so we can get the MRI done. After dinner Colleen wants sleep as the new meds are making her extremely tired. I cover her up after giving her insulin. She reaches for my face. "So sorry Joshua" she says. "Babe this is the part in our vows where it says 'in sickness and in health'. I want to be here babe. Love you" I say as she kisses my hand. "I will be in bed soon". She nods and falls asleep.
