Josh POV

The next few weeks after Lily's birth are both amazing and tiring. Watching Colleen with our daughter is my dream. She was born to be a fantastic mom. Today I am driving them for her 6 week check up and Lily's shots. I dress Lily and put her into her car seat and bring her out to the living room just as Colleen is putting some shoes on."Ready?" I ask smiling at her. "I am. Lets go!" she says as we slowly make our way to the car and to our appointment.I pull into the parking lot and we walk in and wait for the girls to be called in. Finally after about 15 minutes Colleen and Lily get called in as I follow. Our regular doctor walks and congratulates us on Lily. "Thank you. We are thrilled" Colleen says smiling. The doctor looks at Colleens chart and puts it down. "Colleen we will do you last ok?" the doctor says. "Sure" she says. The doctor picks up Lily and lays her on the scale to weigh her. "9 pounds 14 ounces" the doctor says. "She gained lots since birth so thats great" he says. I smile at Colleen. He measures how long she is and writes it down as well. He listens to her breathing and is all smiles. "Healthy little girl you got here" he says smiling. "Her Mom takes really good care of her" I say rubbing Colleens back. He smiles as he grabs some medicine for Lily's vaccines. "Can you hold her Josh? I can't" Colleen says as she passes me her. I sit down with her and the doctor gives her two shots and Lily hollers bloody murder but I turn her towards me and snuggle her and she calms right down. "She loves her Daddy" Colleen says as she hops up for her check up. The doctor opens the chart and reads through Colleens pregnancy history and birth history as he was not the attending doctor. "So you had some pretty severe eclampsia" the doctor says. "Yup" Colleen says. "How about after Lily's birth?? Any lingering issues?" he asks. Colleen looks at me. "I feel weak sometimes but I don't measure my sugars like I did when I was pregnant because it should be gone now right?" Colleen asks. "Most times yes but need to make sure it hasn't stuck around" he says. He lays Colleen down and starts pressing on her stomach. "Any kidney, bladder issues?" he asks. "No" Colleen says. "Good" he says. He starts doing an internal to make sure she is healed from Lily's birth and Colleen winces. " Colleen you are going to be slow healing because of the eclampsia slowing down the healing process" he says. "Give it another week or so. I want to do a sugar test now if you don't mind" he says as he pricks her finger and reads the blood monitor. He looks at Colleen sternly and says "Colleen you still have diabetes".
