You ran your hand over your still flat stomach as you patiently awaited the return of your husband. Thorin was in a meeting with his council, but you knew he would join you for lunch to take a break from his kingly duties. That was when you would tell him that you were expecting his child. The prince or princess of Erebor. You were a bit worried that Thorin wouldn't take it well, but mostly you knew he would be overjoyed.

Your thoughts were interrupted by your chamber door being opened. " Amrâlimê, I have missed you," Thorin said as he pulled you into his warm embrace. "I missed you too, my love. Um...Thorin, perhaps you should sit down. There's something I have to tell you," you said nervously. Thorin pulled away and gave you a quizzical look. "Y/N, what is it? Are you ill?" You shook your head. "I am not ill. I am...with child," you told him.

Thorin opened and closed his mouth several times before his eyes rolled back and he fainted on the spot. You sighed and whispered, "I told you to sit down." You struggled to get your husband to the bed and waited for him to regain consciousness. When he finally did, he looked at you with a wide smile. "Are you really with child?" You nodded. He picked you up and spun you around. "This is incredible news!" He placed you back down on the ground and ran to open the door.

You heard him running down the corridors yelling, "I'M GOING TO BE A FATHER!" You laughed and shook your head as you followed him. He was stopping everyone that happened to be out and about that you were expecting a child. They all congratulated you both, but shook their heads with fond smiles. They had never seen their king behave this way. "Congratulations, Your Majesty," they said to you as you passed by.

You followed your husband to the throne room where Balin, Fili and Kili were. Kili immediately jumped when Thorin burst in the room. "I didn't do it!" the younger Durin cried. You chuckled to yourself. "No you didn't Kili," you said softly. "I am to be a father!" Thorin cried to the three dwarves. In his joy, Thorin did not notice Kili let out a sigh of relief. You knew that meant that he had indeed done something, but you didn't ask. "That's wonderful, Uncle! Aunt Y/N!" Fili exclaimed hugging you both. Thorin left the group and continued running through Erebor and even left the mountain. He was halfway to the palace in Dale before you caught up with him. By the end of the day, all of Erebor and Dale knew of the coming prince or princess.
