Eomer couldn't remember a time when he had been more nervous. His sister was having a baby and he had no idea what to do. So, he paced. "First time dad?" a voice asked. Eomer stopped pacing and looked to see you standing there. "First time uncle," he replied. You smiled and offered your hand. "I'm Y/N. I'm a nurse here. How can I help ease your nerves?"

"Is my sister going to be okay? She's the only family I have left. What about the baby? What's going to happen to them both after the birth? How long will they be in the hospital?" You held up your hands in an effort to slow him down. "Okay, one question at a time. I'll do my best to answer them all." Eomer took a deep breath and asked his first question again.

Eomer lost track of the time as he was sitting and talking with you. True to your word, you answered any question he had to the best of your ability. He was finally beginning to relax when the doctor came out to the lobby with another gentleman. "Oh, hello Y/N. I thought you'd gone home." You smiled. "I was just answering some of Eomer's questions."

The man in question was out of his seat and talking to the one who had come out with the doctor. "Is everything okay, Faramir?" Faramir couldn't seem to contain his grin. "Yes. Everything's fine. Eowyn did splendidly and our son is healthy." He turned to you. "I hope he didn't give you too much trouble. He's been driving us crazy for weeks." Eomer flushed, making you laugh. "He's been fine. Everyone has questions about this kind of thing. I was happy to answer his."

"Would you like to see your nephew?" Faramir asked. Eomer looked at you. It was as if he thought you had all the answers. You smiled and nodded in encouragement. He kept glancing at you with pleading eyes. "Uh, why don't I join you? That way I can answer any questions you or your family have," you offered. Eomer smiled like you'd offered him what he wanted most in the world.

The three of you headed toward Eowyn's room. The new mother gave you all a tired smile when you entered. Eomer looked on in awe of his little nephew. You gave his shoulder a squeeze. "You'll be fine," you whispered. You turned to leave the room. With one last look at the family, you grinned and went home.

Two days later, you were back at the hospital for your shift. Much to your surprise, Eomer was at the front desk. "Eomer?" you questioned. He turned to face you with a smile. "There you are! I just wanted to stop by and thank you again. If it wasn't for you, I would have lost my head." You laughed a little. He had lost his head a little, but you weren't about to tell him that.

"It's no big deal. I'm glad I could help. Did you have any other questions?" Eomer scratched the back of his neck, which you could see the faintest hint of red on. "Uh, yes, actually. I know I kept you well passed your time the other day and I was hoping you'd let me make it up to you somehow. Perhaps...over coffee?"

You felt your own face heat up a bit. This really attractive guy was asking you out. You couldn't believe it. "Well, that depends on when you have time. Nurse's schedule and all." Eomer smiled sheepishly. "Right. How about right now?" You glanced at the clock and then at the nurse at the desk. She gave you a sly smile. You turned your eyes back to Eomer. "Now sounds pretty good. I've got about ten minutes to spare. Let's go." Eomer followed after you, a smile on his face. He couldn't believe his luck.
