Macy took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes slowly. She doesn't know why she is so exhausted today. Maybe because of what Ken said to her. But Macy feels like she doesn't want to be in the office and work.
However, she is currently in the middle of a meeting with the entire editorial team. She couldn't just let go of her responsibilities just because she was getting drained.
Macy put her glasses back on and tried to focus on the matter at hand. She made some small notes. They are entering the final stages of launching several novels from novelist VIP St. Haven and will begin the early stages of planning to publish a novel from the new novelist St. Haven.
And that only means one thing, she will be much busier again, at least for the next five months. Remembering that, she recalled Ken's words earlier. If she will be very busy with work for a few months, she will rarely be at home. And if Marcus stayed with her for ten days at the end of the month, there's a big possibility that she would leave her alone at their unit a lot more.
Oh, Macy hates it the most when she has to admit that Ken is right. Especially after his ex-husband discussed it with Katy.
"Ma'am..."
Shit!
She looked at Gil closely.
"Ma'am, you should go home and rest. You don't look so good. Your face looks pale," Gil said out of concern.
Macy heaved a sigh. She looked around the meeting room. Everyone was watching her cautiously. Oh, looks like she made a mistake again. She should be able to maintain her professionalism while she is at work.
She cleared her throat. "I'm fine. Please continue,"
Gil glanced at some of the other editors. Then he looked back at Macy who was trying to focus on the document in front of her. "Chief Editor, I don't think you're fit enough to work today. You can go home and rest. I will send the results of today's meeting." The man insisted.
She raised her head and sighed. Oh, even her own subordinates said that she couldn't maintain her professionalism. Gil just said it much more politely because she was his boss. Macy shouldn't be irritated, even if her own subordinates kicked her out for slowing down the meeting.
Seeing how the atmosphere changes, Macy handed the document in front of her to Gil, then without saying anything, she left the meeting room.
Well, it looks like she has no choice but to go home.

"Editor Cruz!"
Macy turned and saw David smiling and walking towards her.
"Did Andrew call you and told you to come here?" the Agent asked her.
She blinked. "Eh?" Oh, she forgot that Andrew didn't tell his cousin that the two of them were neighbors. And actually, she also did not expect that she would meet the man in the apartment building.
"T-that's how it is." She decided to lie.
David exhaled. The two of them walked towards the basement elevator. "I told him to apologize, but I didn't expect him to ask you to come so he could apologize to you. That brat,"
Macy mumbled softly. "It does not matter. I also have to apologize anyway. Yesterday, I should've tried harder to stop him from drinking."
David waved his hand dismissively. The elevator doors opened and they entered the steel box. He pressed the fifteenth button. "Andrew is the stubborn type. But thanks for bringing him home last night. He is usually really annoying when he's drunk."
