Gil was a little flabbergasted when he saw Macy coming into the office with a bruised face. He doesn't know what his boss did all day yesterday. He stood up to approach the editor-in-chief, but Macy just walked past him and rushed into the room. Gil sighed and glanced at several editors who were also aware of their boss' condition.
Gil then walked towards Macy's room. He knocked on the door and immediately opened it without waiting for the owner's approval. After closing the door, Gil approached his boss' desk.
"Ma'am..."
Macy turned on her computer, pretending that Gil didn't see the bruises on her face. "Yes, Gil?"
"Uhm, are you okay?"
Macy took a deep breath. Then she looked at Gil seriously. "I'm fine, Gil. Just go back to work. And submit the final approved draft."
Gil was about to ask another question when Macy focused on her computer screen. Even though his boss said that she was in good condition, Gil knew exactly the opposite. Whatever happened yesterday, he is sure that it wasn't good at all.
And Gil also knew that Macy was very stubborn and wouldn't say anything to him. So, he would leave it at that for now. Gil inhaled and exhaled.
"I've sent documents from the bank to Lawyer Kim's office," Gil said.
The woman just mumbled her thanks. Gil then left the room. Outside the room, Gil finds Jino and several other editors watching worriedly.
Gil shook his head slowly. "Do not say anything. Just focus on your work," he said.
All the editors except Jino are back at their desks. Jino approached Gil. He was still so worried. They had never shown up at the office in such a disheveled and bruised state before – even after the previous beating, Macy took a few days off.
"She doesn't want to say anything?" Jino asked quietly.
Gil shook his head again. He went to his desk to pick up the pre-approved draft. Jino followed behind. "You know, she's so stubborn. But if she comes to work looking like that, it means she's already seen a doctor. That's a bit of a relief."
"But still..." Jino sighed. It was still early, but the mood on the editorial floor was already so gloomy. "Something happened, didn't it? When Writer Reyes spoke with Writer Coangco yesterday..."
Gil looked at Jino. "Jino, don't be so suspicious like that. Yesterday was..."
Gil's words are cut off when he sees Director Miller coming in such a hurry. The director didn't even greet anyone and immediately barged into Macy's room.
Well, it looks like there will be another debate between them.
Gil will submit the draft after Director Miller leaves.
"Director Miller looks really angry," Jino muttered while looking at their boss' room. Heck, of course they could see the situation inside because of the room's large windows. Gil sat back in his chair.
Jino looks at Gil. "The Chief Editor doesn't even seem to care."
"It's a habit, isn't it? Every time they argue, Director Miller acts more aggressively. Contrary to the attitude of the Chief Editor. However, in the end-"
Jino continues Gil's words. "Director Miller always loses in arguing with the Chief Editor."

Ken looked at Katy seriously. But the woman seemed to ignore it and continued to focus on the document he was finishing. He knows that this is Katy's way of avoiding him. But he was quite fed up with the woman's attitude. Especially with what happened to Macy yesterday.
Although Hani didn't give a complete explanation, Ken could guess.
"Kate, please stop," said Ken.
Katy muttered under her breath. "What are you talking about, Ken?"
Ken clenched his fists. He was trying to keep his emotions in check at the moment. If he confronted Katy, it wouldn't end well. "Whatever you have planned for Macy. Stop that right now."
Katy was silent for a moment. She dropped her pen then raised her head to look at Ken. "Plans for Macy? I don't understand what you mean."
"Kate, no matter what you did to Macy yesterday... Hani won't stand still. And you too-"
"Ken Reyes," said Katy quietly but sounded so cold. Until it made Ken shudder. "I didn't do anything to Macy. Are you accusing me? She did come to see me, but we were just talking-"
"And we both know you're lying." Ken said quickly. He had to stop the woman. Previously, Ken had absolutely no power to stop the woman, but now at least he could try his best. "Stop it, Kate. Before things get any worse."
Katy snorted. "What else could happen?"
"Hani can report you to the police. At first it might be because of Macy, but if the police do a deeper investigation..." Ken took a deep breath. "The obsessive fan case and the others. You're already in big trouble, Kate."
"Tch... if she reports me to the police, won't you be involved too? We both know that you're not clean either." The woman smirked. "Especially when you're defending your son's custody. We know that Marcus' custody will fall to your ex-wife if I don't step in."
Ken's back felt cold. This is the true color of Katy Perez. Everyone, including Macy, will probably never know because the woman is so cunning. But Ken is not all of those people. And stupidly, he fell into the woman's trap instead.
"I never asked you to do it. It was your one-sided action. Because you only want Macy for yourself."
"Of course. My main goal is only Macy. But I was so confident and too focused on 'helping you' that I forgot my role in her eyes. When I realized, apart from hating you, she will probably never forgive me," Katy said quietly, but Ken could feel such great emotions.
Even the look in the woman's eyes had turned darker, filled with anger.
"I was even so caught off guard by that writer."
Shit, Ken really wanted to leave the room immediately. But it was as if his feet were glued to the
floor. It was very difficult to move.
"Stupidly, Macy repeated the same mistake she had done. A mistake she made eight years ago. But now, I will not stand still. No one can have Macy anymore but myself. If I can never have her, then no one can. I will do everything in my power. Even if I have to destroy her, I will."
