Macy frowned when she arrived at Marcus' school, she saw a woman talking to her son. Macy, who had just parked her car, hurriedly climbed out and approached her son. However, as she walked closer, she recognized the woman well.
She stopped her footsteps. She looked at the woman who was talking to Marcus, so calmly. Without any guilt. She clenched her fist tightly.
"Marcus..."
Suddenly her son and the woman turned to her. The boy smiled and ran to her. "Mommy!"
Macy smiled back at her son. But when she looked back at the woman who was now standing looking at her, her smile disappeared. Then she slightly knelt down to match her height with Marcus.
"Hey, I'm sorry, mommy is late to pick you up," she said as she wiped the sweat on her son's forehead.
"That's okay. After all," Marcus turned to the woman behind them. "Aunt Katy came to see me," he said as he looked at his mom again.
Macy mumbled softly. Her hand is not leaving Marcus' head, rubbing it gently from time to time.
"Okay, get in the car. Mommy will just talk to Aunt Katy for a while."
Marcus nodded. "Bye... aunt Katy!" he cried as he ran to the car.
Macy watched her son until the boy closed the car door. Then she stood up and looked back at Katy –Katy Perez.
"What are you doing here?" she fiercely asked.
Katy smiled and walked closer. "I just wanted to meet Marcus. Can't I meet him? After all, Marcus' custody hasn't been completely decided, has it?"
"Katy-"
The woman raised her hand. "Listen Macy, I don't want to get into trouble with you. Regarding Marcus is your problem with Ken. Whatever the judge's decision regarding the child's custody, I still have the right to meet him."
"Excuse me? Did I hear you wrong? Who told you that you have a right to my son? You have no right to meet my son, Miss Perez!"
"But I am his godmother!"
She glared at the woman. She doesn't know what the woman's plans are currently related to Marcus. Maybe the woman is helping Ken so that her ex-husband gets custody of their son from her.
But Macy will never let him. She will fight until the end for her son.
"Oh, by the way, I want to bring Marcus with me."
"Bringing my son with you? What do you mean?"
The woman took a breath. "Ken. I'll take him to his dad. Please allow Marcus to stay temporarily with his dad."
"I have allowed my son to live with his dad. In accordance with the agreement-"
"But that's not enough! Marcus is only six years old. He still needs his father. What? Do you really think that moving him every week from your house to Ken's house will be good for his psychological aspect? Besides, you are always busy, are you? Let the boy stay with Ken until the custody trial is over. Wouldn't if the judge gave you custody, Marcus would live with you?"
Macy's clenched hands were already white. She didn't expect Katy to ask her this. After what she and Ken did... wouldn't divorce be enough? Then why does the woman like to get involved again in the custody issue of Marcus?
"Then if the custody goes to Ken... I won't be able to meet my son," she said.
"Of course not!" Katy interrupted. "If the custody goes to one of you, I'm sure the judge will recommend a meeting for you. Even though you are divorced, no one can deny that you and Ken are Marcus' parents. A child will never lose his parents."
She was really fed up with the woman's sweet words. Katy spoke as if she had done nothing wrong. As if what happened was not mainly because of her.
"Macy..."
"Are you doing this because of Ken's request?" she asked in a whisper.
Katy blinked at her carefully.
"Are you willing to do anything for that man? Has he accepted you already, that's why you even bothered for Marcus to live with Ken?" she said accusingly.
The woman shook her head. "No, Macy! I..."
She narrowed her eyes. "You were never good at lying Katy Perez! Oh wait... my bad! You're actually so good at it. I was even deceived by you for years."
"Macy, I..."
Macy took a deep sigh.
"Just take Marcus with you. Bring my son to his dad. I know I can't refuse it because I'm sure you will definitely use my refusal against me in the trial. If I refuse to bring Marcus to his father now, of course, the chance for Ken to get his custody will be higher."
"But Macy, I don't..."
Macy didn't want to hear Katy's words anymore. She turned her back against the woman and walked towards the car. She took a deep breath again to calm her emotions. Her son shouldn't see her in this emotional state. She plastered a smile first before she opened the door and saw the boy reading one of his books.
Marcus turned around. "Shall we go home now?"
"No. You will come with Aunt Katy to meet daddy," said Macy.
The boy closed his book and frowned. "Why?"
She exhaled. She took the book in her son's hand and put it again in his bag. "You will live with daddy, dear. Until the trial is over and decides whether you will stay with me or with your dad."
Marcus looked at her closely. "I can't stay with you?" the boy then purses his lips.
Macy cradles her son into her arms. She gently stroked Marcus' black hair. "Only for a while. If the judge decides you stay with mommy, we'll be together again."
"Then if the judge decides that I live with daddy, will I not see you again, mommy?" asked Marcus with tears brimming on his big doe eyes.
Macy became silent for a moment. Her son is too smart for his age. Even when she explained to him about her divorce from his father, the boy seemed to accept it well. And somehow, it became a worry for Macy. She doesn't want her son to keep his feelings to himself because it may be a big trauma when he grows up. Because of that, she had decided to take Marcus to see a psychiatrist. However, the results were truly surprising.
For a little boy, he knew exactly what had happened between his parents and the psychiatrist also said that her son would not experience any trauma regarding his parents' separation. In essence, Marcus had become way mature for his age.
"You will still be able to meet mommy, dear. And vice versa. If you end up living with me, you can still meet your dad. You won't lose anyone sweetheart," Macy assured him. Then she stretched out her hand.
"Come on... Aunt Katy is waiting."
