"Hani won't have lunch with us?" asked Jared.
Macy shook her head. "She has an important business," she answered. "But she will have dinner with me at the apartment. Do you want to join?"
"No. I miss my wife. Besides, aren't you tired of looking at me all the time?"
She snorted. Who was the first to come to see and bother her at the office earlier?
But she chose not to say anything. The two of them walked in the food court area for lunch. After a long measurement and selection of materials, because Jared couldn't decide between dark navy and blueish black – whatever the difference between the two colors, she didn't know – they finally left Moon Tailors.
At first, she thought that if Hani would join for lunch, they could go to a restaurant near her law firm's office. But since the lawyer said that she was busy, they ended up having lunch at the mall instead.
They were already walking around the food court, but Jared hasn't decided what he wants to eat yet. After all, he will be the one to pay.
"Can you decide what you want to eat quickly?" she snapped.
The man snorted. "At least you can give me some advice or recommendation instead of just complaining. Hey, if you're upset that your boyfriend has to go to Chicago all of a sudden, don't take it out on me."
"I'm not upset," she muttered irritably. "Oh, come on! At least choose an easy menu, if you have trouble deciding what to eat."
Oh, Macy shouldn't have told Jared about Andrew's phone call.
"Okay. Okay. Relax. Shall we eat Pho?"
She nodded. Heck, at least now Jared has decided what he wants to eat. The two then walked to the Vietnam Pho restaurant which is located almost at the end of the lobby of the food court area.
Less than five minutes they arrived at the entrance of the restaurant. She was looking at the menu list displayed in front of the restaurant while the man asked one of the employees if they had an empty table.
"Sorry, but for now we have a full table. You may have to wait about ten minutes," the employee said politely.
Jared sighed. Heck, he didn't want to wait ten minutes if they could eat somewhere else. They had to go back to St. Haven after lunch. Macy also couldn't possibly leave her room, especially since almost half of the editors were at the expo.
He was about to talk to the woman when he saw someone he recognized. One of his eyebrows raised. "Hey, Macy."
"Yes?"
He still hasn't taken his eyes off one of the tables. "You said that Hani had important business, right?"
Macy turned to look at her friend. "That's how it is. But why are you asking about that again?"
Jared then pointed inside the restaurant to one of the tables. "Is that supposed to be an important business?"
She followed the direction pointed by Jared. And when she recognized that someone, her eyes widened. "Oh..."
Well, they both saw Hani and Detective Nathan sitting at a table in the middle of the restaurant.
The two of them looked familiar chatting. And to be honest, she and Jared rarely saw their friend being able to chat and smile like that with a stranger they had not known for a long time.
