Jared smiled when he saw Macy and Hani at one of the tables in the corner of the cafe. It felt like it had been a long time since they had been able to get together like this and not because of work. He walked over to the table and sat down after patting Hani on the shoulder.
"It's good to see you alone, without your lover," said Jared, teasing Macy a little.
The editor just rolled her eyes and Hani giggled.
"He has other business," Macy said which made Jared's eyes widen. He smirked again and patted the woman on the shoulder too.
"It's good to hear your voice again!" he exclaimed.
Well, Macy just sent him a message. So, he didn't know that Macy's voice had returned. The editor pushed his hand off her shoulder. Jared just chuckled.
He then saw that there were three glasses on the table. It seemed his two best friends had already ordered for him.
He took one that had not been drunk and took a sip. "So, is there a special reason we met here?"
Hani shrugged. She just glanced at Macy and smiled. "Looks like Macy is bored. What's more, her boyfriend is nowhere to be found."
"He's just seeing his cousin," Macy muttered.
Hani and Jared glanced at their best friend and snorted. Jared put down his drink and leaned back on the chair. He crossed his legs.
"Well, if you guys don't have any topics to talk about. I have one. Ken pulled out the novel."
Macy didn't know that. As a Chief Editor, when the author withdraws a novel before it is published, she will receive an immediate report. But when she checked her email, she didn't see the report at all. Besides, when Ken picked up Marcus, the man didn't say anything either.
Jared looked at Macy closely. "Ken said that he would let you know on Monday when he came with his lawyer to talk about the penalty money to St. Havens."
"When did he tell you?" the editor asked.
"Yesterday."
Hani sighed and took another sip of her drink. "This is the first time, isn't it?"
Jared nodded. "It seems that he decided to withdraw the novel because of my suggestion to move the publication of his novel to Mt. Callum."
Oh, another one that Macy doesn't know. Well, if it is the decision of the Board of Directors then she will only get the report after approval from the author.
But since Ken refused, all he got was a report of the withdrawal of the novel. This will be a problem for St. Haven.
"What about the PR department? The preparations for his promotions are already complete, right?" she asked.
"That will be discussed tomorrow. But I think we both know what St. Haven has apart from all the preparation and promotion plans for the novel."
Hani looked at the two people. Heck, they meet to chill and not talk about work.
"Never mind," said the lawyer. "You can talk about work tomorrow. It's Sunday, can we talk about something else?"
Jared sighed softly. "Well. Then..." He then took out a business card from his jacket pocket and handed it to Hani. "My mother gave this to me. For you. You just need to call him and arrange a meeting time."
