For God's sake, Macy really hates this place. Too loud noises, too many people, too bright spotlights. She said thousands of times that she hated such a place, but every time she was always persuaded to come.

Heck, how can she fight her underlings who always conspire?

Macy frowned at the glass a bartender was proffering her. She ignored the glass of alcohol and shifted her gaze to the dance floor where she could almost recognize everyone. St. Haven is involved in the publication of Author Coangco's novel trilogy. Both from the editorial department, PR, marketing, printing. Hell, she was sure she saw an employee from the secretariat of the board of directors.

After the release event went smoothly, Macy checked the sales on the first day which exceeded the marketing team's target, arranged the second and third prints and stole a bit of time contacting Hani to ask about the trial. And now, she ended up in a nightclub that was specially rented by the secretariat of the board of directors. Well, they said it was a gift from the board of directors for their hard work over the past year for Writer Coangco's novel.

Macy let out a short breath then she turned to look at the bartender and smiled. She pushed the glass of drink that was served to her. "Non-alcoholic, please."

The bartender just took the glass and served her a lemonade.

"Thank you," said Macy.

"Chief Editor Cruz!"

Hearing her position called, suddenly Macy turned and saw Gil. She frowned. She didn't think she'd ever heard Gil call her that. But judging by his face and demeanor, Gil seems to be getting drunk. Heck, they still had work to do, but her subordinates chose to get drunk like this instead.

"Gil..."

Gil looked at his boss's drinking glass. He snorted. "You can't get drunk with just a lemonade, Chief Editor Cruz."

Macy rolled her eyes. "And you're obviously drunk, Editor Gil. May I just remind you; I still need some bookstore sales reports from you tomorrow morning."

"Tch... don't talk about work, Chief!" said Gil loudly. Then he pointed at Macy's shoulder. "You are too serious. How many times have you always refused our invitations to go have fun?!

Tch... even if you come with us, you seem to keep your distance. Chief, you are too stiff. If your attitude continues like this, no man will want to date you later."

Macy just shook her head. She then pushed Gil's body in the direction where the other editors were having fun. She didn't need to listen to the protests of her own subordinates because she chose to stay sober. Anyway, tomorrow morning, Gil will definitely feel much more guilty because of his attitude tonight towards Macy.

Macy took a sip of her drink before she felt her phone vibrate in her jacket pocket. The editor took out her phone and saw Hani's name on the screen. Then she went to find a quiet corner so she could hear the lawyer's voice.

"Yes, Lawyer Kim?"

Andrew chuckled when he saw Gil's drunken attitude towards Macy.

Since then, he always pays attention to Macy who chooses to sit at the bar and let all her subordinates have fun. But the editor-in-chief refused the barman's alcoholic drink and asked for another.

Andrew saw a glass filled with a clear liquid with ice and lemon wedges and a few mint leaves. Heck, Macy Cruz drank lemonade at a nightclub. He laughed again.

"Why are you laughing?" asked David who had just returned from nowhere. "Is there something funny?"

Andrew shook his head a little. "Where have you been? Why are you missing so much today?"

David took a deep breath. He then sat next to Andrew. Their table is located in the corner, it looks quite private but they can still see the dance floor and DJ area. David grabbed his drinking glass and drank it down.

One of Andrew's eyebrows rose. "What is it?"

"There's something I want to tell you. But..." David sighed. "I think it would be much better if the situation was much more private."

"Why? Does this have anything to do with the previous obsessive fans' case? Didn't you say..."

David closed his eyes for a moment. "The case has been handled by the police, Andrew. I'll tell you the full details of every development. But what do you think, I can't talk about it publicly. It's about something else."

"Other things? Just say it, David. Besides, with this loud music, I'm sure no one will be able to eavesdrop on our conversation."

David looked back at his cousin carefully. The man looked so calm. But David knew exactly how Andrew would react after hearing what he was about to say. And clearly, the current situation is not the ideal place for him to control Andrew's emotions later.

Andrew watched David then glanced at Macy who had left the bar table and headed towards the exit with her cellphone in her hand. Maybe someone contacted her.

"Andrew..."

Andrew's attention is focused again on David who seems to have decided to speak. And besides, David's expression is very serious. This is not the first time David will be serious like this if there is a problem, but for some reason Andrew feels this is not just an obsessive fan problem or something else. This problem seems very personal.

Andrew grabbed his whiskey glass.

"It's about your mother," David started.

Andrew was silent for a moment. "Mom? What about my mom?"

"Not your adoptive Mom, Andrew. But your mother – your birth mother."
