Macy grabbed Marcus' bag when her son came out of class. "Are you having fun? Don't you feel any discomfort with that left hand?"
"Hello to you too, mommy," said Marcus. "And yes, I had quite a bit of fun. It doesn't feel like anything. At least I can last a day, right?"
Macy refrained herself from rolling her eyes. Well, Marcus is indeed her son. Then she moved slightly to the boy's right and stretched out her hand. To this, Marcus rolled his eyes in annoyance but welcomed his mother's open left hand.
The two then walked towards the exit of the school building.
"Then can you survive tomorrow?" Macy asked.
"Of course. It doesn't even hurt anymore. I don't even know why the doctor forced me to put on a sling like this." Marcus answered confidently.
Macy lowered her head to look at her son. "Marcus..."
"Okay ... okay," said the boy. And Macy just laughed a little. "Mommy, are we going to take a taxi again?"
She nodded. "That's how it is. Why?"
"I'm just curious. Where's your car?"
It made her speechless. She didn't tell Marcus about her car being damaged by someone she didn't know and now she's trying to buy a new car. By the time they got back from the hospital, Marcus was probably still in shock that he didn't ask anything why Hani brought them home.
"Mommy bought a new car. So, it will take some time for the paperwork to be ready and the car to be delivered."
Oh, at least it wasn't a complete lie.
Marcus just mumbled quietly. He greeted the security guard who was at the main door of the building. Her son is always friendly to everyone. He never forgets to say please, sorry, and thank you. Macy and Ken made sure that their son was always nice to everyone.
"Aunt Katy..."
Macy was silent for a moment when she saw the woman walking towards them.
Subconsciously, she tightened her grip on Marcus. The son slightly looked up at his mother and saw Macy's tense expression. Marcus was not the typical innocent child. He knows very well the problems between his father, mother and aunt Katy.
Katy smiled at the two of them – perhaps more towards Marcus. "Hello, Marcus. I heard you're back at school."
Macy restrained herself. Of course, the teacher will tell Ken and her ex-husband will tell Katy. But why did the woman come to Marcus' school?
"I didn't see your car, Macy," Katy commented. "So, I thought you didn't come to pick up Marcus."
Macy glared at her. "That is not-"
"Mommy bought a new car. But the car hasn't arrived yet," said Marcus quickly.
Oh, she doesn't know why Marcus suddenly said that. Katy doesn't need to know about it. But that didn't mean she would scold the boy for it. It was Katy who needed to refrain from interfering in her life again.
"Ah, that's how it is. Then I can take you home."
"That's not necessary. We can take a taxi," she refused quickly.
Katy shook her head. "Do not be like that. Consider Marcus' current condition, Macy. This is just an offer to drive you back to your apartment. No more. And... honestly, I insist."
