Ken arrived at his son's school in time for lunch break. And when he got out of the car and walked towards the school building, he got glances from several parents who were picking up or waiting for their children. With a low whisper, he didn't have to guess what they were talking about. And although he didn't like the police's decision to publicly release the investigation report, he couldn't be selfish either.

He will just cover his ears. He didn't care what other people said, his biggest concern was Marcus.

The male writer walked towards the boy's classroom. Even though it was recess, Marcus rarely played outside. If it weren't for his teacher, he would have spent more time in class reading books or playing games indoors. And as expected, Marcus was just inside the classroom, playing alone accompanied by their adviser.

Ken knocked on the door slowly. She turned her head and smiled when she saw him. The teacher approached him.

"You didn't call before that you wanted to come pick up Marcus," said the teacher.

He shook his head. "I just wanted to see him for a bit. Can I?"

The teacher nodded and invited him to come in. Then she left the father and child to return to the teacher's room. Ken approached Marcus who was reading one of the children's story books.

"Hey, son..." he greeted as he sat on a small chair.

The boy glanced at his father briefly, but did not return Ken's greeting. He seems to ignore it. Ken smiled sadly. His son was cold to him again.

"Marcus..."

Marcus sighed and closed his book. Then he put the book back on the bookshelf.

"I'm sorry, son," said Ken.

But the boy just remained silent for a moment then returned to his seat. Now he looked closely at his father.

"Daddy is sorry for what reason?"

Ken took a deep breath. He tried to grab his son's hand, but Marcus quickly pulled him away. He flinched at his son's reaction.

"Marcus..."

"Does Daddy really love Marcus?"

"Of course. Daddy-"

"Then why doesn't daddy love my mommy too?"

Ken was silent. Oh, the boy might just understand the current situation. Marcus only knew that it was his father who always hurt his mother. But he didn't understand Ken's reasoning yet. And maybe it was his fault too.

"Daddy loves mommy too, honey. But daddy's way of showing it was a little different. Daddy..."

His words stopped when he saw Marcus' expression. Oh, sometimes he forgets that their son is too similar to his mother even when he doesn't believe it easily. The boy is too smart for that.

Ken took a deep breath. "Marcus, daddy loves you and mommy too. Whatever daddy does, it's because daddy loves you. Now, you might not be able to understand why I did it. But after you grow up, you eventually will."

David watched Andrew who was taking care of Macy's hospital documents. St. Haven had paid for all the treatment, so the man didn't take long. After checking the last document, the writer thanked the nurse and walked over to him.

"Done already?"

Andrew nodded. "The medicine for one month will be sent to the inpatient room later. And Macy only needs to come check-up every month. Maybe for six months."
