Hani muttered under her breath. "Thank you, Jared."

"It does not matter. Although I'm a little hesitant to mention Marcus. But Macy is so stubborn that I have no choice but to do it."

Hani turned the wheel. While she was driving to doctor Steven's office, Jared called her and said that he had tried to convince Macy to come to the hospital or to the police station according to her request.

Well, sometimes Jared is the best choice to persuade Macy, especially since they are in St. Haven. Although outside of work, they are friends but Macy will not reply to Jared's argument if the man asks her to talk in St. Haven.

"But I think it will be much better. Macy will always prioritize her son over anything and anyone else. Including herself," said the lawyer. "I just hope that she will change her mind. It's also for her own good."

There was a sigh on the other end of the phone.

"Then what about the case? Did the police say something other than Macy had to give a direct statement?"

"Nothing so specific. Although they can raise the case even to the prosecutor's office, but regarding the court process it will be difficult. Katy and her lawyer will look for justifications for her actions," said Hani.

"Hah... this is really beyond my comprehension. So far, Katy hasn't shown anything strange. Even when Macy introduced her to me... oh? Wait, how about Ken?"

Hani stopped just as the traffic light turned red. Her brow furrowed and she glanced at her cell phone that was attached to the dashboard dock. "Ken? What's wrong with him?"

"You can ask him to give a statement. You said that after meeting and talking with him, Macy immediately met Katy, right? All of this happened because of what Ken has said."

The lawyer was silent for a moment. Oh, she almost forgot about that. Because she was too busy with Macy's condition, she forgot that Ken still owed her an explanation about what they were talking about that time. Then she smiled widely.

"Well... Jared Miller, if you don't have a wife, I can kiss you right now!"

"No thanks. Even though you're pretty and intelligent, I will politely refuse. I'm sorry, I still love my wife very much."

Hani just laughed at Jared's response.

Gil opens the door to her room and invites Director Manahan to come in. Macy took a deep breath and stood up to the director. Gil then returned to his desk. Macy invited the Director to sit on the sofa. This time, the director accepted. Maybe because it's still too early to go pick up Marcus at his school.

She took a seat across from the director. She watched the middle-aged woman carefully.

"I was impressed," said Director Manahan.

She didn't say anything and just smiled faintly.

"They say that you are a boss with a good work ethic and professionalism," said Director Manahan again.

Macy looked down slightly. Well, talking about work might be true. But because of that too, she might be considered not very close to her family -before the divorce. And the Director might also think that was the reason why she and Ken divorced.

"Is there something you want to ask, Director Manahan?" she asked bravely while looking at the director again.

The Director smiled. "You don't seem to like small talk much."

"It is not like that. I just thought that-"

"Okay." Then Director Manahan takes out a notebook with a black leather cover and a pen from her bag. "I will start with general questions. You have been the Chief Editor for the past eight years. That was before your marriage to Ken Reyes, correct?"

She took a deep breath and leaned her back on the sofa.

"That's right. And actually, we were preparing for the wedding when I got the promotion," she replied. Precisely three months before the wedding day, St. Haven gave her the promotion.

"How long were you in a relationship with Ken Reyes before you finally got married?"

Macy looked thoughtful for a moment. "Probably almost a year and a half. But we've known each other for two years since he first entered St. Havens as a writer."

"And you were the editor at that time."

She nodded. The Director then jotted down a few sentences in her notebook. "And how were the two of you while you were in a relationship? No fights?"

"There are fights. Either I'm too busy or Ken is too busy writing his novel. We rarely see each other outside St. Haven, so there are often misunderstandings. But we're trying to work it out outside St. Haven. If we had a fight and met up for a meeting at St. Haven, we are trying to be professional."

Director Manahan listened carefully to her explanation. "Then why did you two get divorced? You explained that you could work things out and still be professional while still dating."

"At first I didn't understand either. Before the divorce, if we had a problem, we could still solve it without fighting. Because we don't want to fight in front of our son, even though he's a kid. However, in the last two years, our relationship has slowly drifted apart. At that time, I was in preparation for Writer Coangco's trilogy novel project. And Ken didn't say anything either. Absolutely no debate or anything. It's just that we talk and interact less and less-"

The Director then interrupts. "And also, no sexual intercourse and even some intimate things?"

Macy nodded. "One of my bad traits is being too focused on work. At that time, St. Haven tried to get permission to publish Author Coangco's trilogy novel for three consecutive years. So, when we got the permission from CR Publisher, my team and I tried our best to release the book. In the end though, all the hard work of more than a year ended up in vain."

"Ah? Because of that obsessive fan case. I read the news that Writer Coangco had several attacks from the obsessive fan. Even Agent Lee had to be rushed to the hospital."

"And for Writer Coangco's safety, St. Haven stopped all promotional events that had been prepared in advance. Although Writer Coangco said that it was fine, but I feel responsible for it. If we plan better, including the anticipation of the obsessive fans, everything will go smoothly. But that was just a plan. The promotional events for Writer Coangco's novel and even my marriage ended in vain," she continued.

The Director took a deep breath. "If you had a choice, would you rather save your marriage or promote Writer Coangco's novel?"
