Gil's eyes widened.
When he had just arrived, several editors were crowding around and whispering as if they were talking about something. Gil walked up to them and asked what they were talking about. And then one of the junior editors pointed towards the Editor-in-Chief's room. Gil's brow furrowed and then followed the direction indicated. At that moment, Gil saw the figure of Macy Cruz sitting behind her desk reading a book.
Gil cursed softly. The woman shouldn't be in the office. He put his bag on his desk and hurried to the editor-in-chief's office.
"Chief Cruz!" Gil exclaimed loudly.
Macy just turned and raised her hand as a greeting. Gil snorted again and walked over to his boss's desk. Gil watched the Chief Editor. The woman was dressed casually, with her cell phone, wallet and car keys on the table. Well, it seems Macy came without any intention of working.
"What are you doing here, ma'am? Shouldn't you be resting at home?" Gil asked.
Macy sighed. She turned the page. "I'm bored at home. Leave me here. I won't mess with your work. Just let me sit here, okay?"
One of Gil's eyebrows rose. Macy used informal language with him. It has never happened before – well, not during business hours. "Ma'am, if you are bored, you can go anywhere to refresh your mind. Not to the office. Even if you said you wouldn't mess up work, I'm sure you would also feel worried and responsible."
Macy lowered the book she was reading. She looked at Gil intently. "Go where? Even if I wanted to, I couldn't drive far. I just don't want to be home right now. It's boring."
"You drive? Is that even allowed?"
"The doctor said nothing about the driving ban. Anyway, my eyes are fine. It's just an early warning."
Gil sighed. His boss is stubborn. The editor then glanced at the clock on his wrist. It's almost time for the final meeting with the PR team for the final preparations for Writer Coangco's promotion which will be held next week. In addition, the sales report for this week is very good.
But Gil won't tell Macy about that. The Chief Editor is still on leave.
"I did not forbid you to be here, ma'am. But if the secretariat of the board finds out you're here, it's going to be a bit of a problem. Directors..."
"I know, Gil. Only for a few hours. After that, I will go. Okay?"
Gil gave up. It was difficult to force Macy to leave her own room.

David only half hopes. But when he saw Andrew in the studio, sitting behind his desk and looking focused on his laptop, it made him breathe a little easier. After all day yesterday, he couldn't contact the writer at all.
David walked over to the man's desk and could see that his cousin was seriously typing something. A few questions crossed his mind. Andrew has finished a new novel and has even sent it to CR. And usually, the writer will not write a new novel again before getting approval from CR. But why is he writing again today?
"Andrew..."
The writer just muttered quietly.
"What are you doing?" David asked quietly. "Did you get any new writing ideas?"
Andrew just glanced at him briefly. "That's how it is,"
David became silent when Andrew confirmed his assumption. It was as if he had never seen the man write two new ideas so close together. And even if he has a new idea, the writer will do more research before starting to make the first outline.
