Hani entered the convenience store with a wrinkled face. She was still wearing yesterday's clothes which now looked shabby. She had to stay up all night at the office to finish some of the case reports she was handling. Due to several weeks that she was more focused on Macy's case and she had to sacrifice other cases.
She walked towards the ready-to-eat food rack and took a bento box with a pork loin filet menu, a cup of ramen, and a bottle of mineral water.
She brought it to the counter to pay before warming up the box and brewing a cup of ramen.
"Two hundred fifty-five pesos," said the cashier on the counter.
However, when the lawyer was about to pay, someone suddenly interrupted.
"Count this too," said the person as he put a bottle of anti-nausea medicine with a card.
Hani suddenly turned around and found the Detective standing behind her and grinning. She slightly put a distance between them.
"Detective..."
The cashier returned the card to the detective after making the payment. The man takes his medicine bottle and card before he looks at the lawyer.
"Enjoy your breakfast," he said.
Hani immediately smiled and nodded. "Thank you. But you don't have to."
"Well, I insist."
The Detective then took the bento box and the ramen cup from the cashier's counter and walked over to the table on the other side of the convenience store. Suddenly, Hani took a mineral bottle and followed the detective.
The senior Detective put Hani's bento box in the microwave and set the time to three minutes. Then he opened the ramen cup, opened the seasoning and added hot water. The woman didn't know what the detective was really doing. She didn't even know what the detective was doing in the area of her law firm. Because the police station is almost an hour from the location of her office.
The man put the cup of ramen in front of her and sat on one of the stools and opened the bottle of nausea medicine that he bought and drank it up. Oh, he hated the taste of the medicine. But maybe he should be able to control the amount of alcohol he drank last night.
It wasn't long before Hani's bento box was ready. Again, the Detective takes it out of the microwave and places it near the ramen cup.
"Eat. But this isn't a healthy breakfast, is it?"
The lawyer snorted. "Anti-nausea medicine isn't a breakfast either."
The Detective chuckled. He then threw the bottle into the trash and returned to the stool. Hani, on the other hand, started her breakfast with a cup of ramen. And seeing the lawyer eat makes the Detective hungry. Hence, he goes to buy the same cup of ramen.
Two minutes later, he sat down next to the lawyer again and waited until the ramen was cooked. Hani glanced at the man next to her.
"What are you doing here? I mean, the police station is even on the other side of town. And there are hundreds of convenience stores near the police station, right?" she couldn't help but ask.
The Detective nodded. "Last night I went out drinking with my junior detective. His house is around here. We were too drunk, so I stayed at his flat. But decided to go home before he woke up and threw me out because he had absolutely no food," the man answered.
The man unscrews the ramen cup and stirs it with chopsticks. "What are you doing? It's too early and happens to be a Sunday. You don't go to work on Sundays, do you?"
