"Mrs. Coangco is resting now, you can bring her home in two hours' time after she completes her drip." The doctor explains to an agitated looking Andrew.

"She and the baby's fine, right?" he asked.

"They are for now." The doctor replied gravely. "Pregnancy drives blood pressure up so it is advisable not to agitate the expectant person. There is no telling how much stress she can take."

Andrew realized that he is shaking from the loss of adrenaline, "Thank you. We'll be more careful."

Macy is resting with her eyes closed. The rush of blood had ceded and all that's left is a deathly pallor. Andrew sat down as quietly as he could but his wife's eyes peel open upon sensing his presence.

"L-love..." his voice shakes. He felt guilty, sorry, worried, and angry all at the same time and he isn't sure which emotion should take precedence first.

Macy blinked wearily but remained silent as she watched her husband fidgeted.

"I want to say sorry... I shouldn't have lost my temper with you..." Andrew swallowed nervously; his hands are shaking even harder now for some reason. "You are right, I don't own you. I should've shown you the respect you deserve."

Macy continues to stare at him in silence and that makes him even more frantic.

"And I am the worst person on earth for saying that you aren't my top priority. Of course, you are. It's just... I..." he stutters all winded.

At last, Macy spoke. "Sorry too." Andrew looked up in surprise. "I didn't realize that I was making things twice as hard for you. I guess I am really that hard-headed." The woman's smile is wry.

Andrew reached out to clasp their hands together. A long stretch of silence follows as they savor each other's warmth. He was almost sure that his wife had fallen asleep when she spoke again.

"I will tender my resignation tomorrow."

Andrew's brows shot up in record time. He searched his wife's face for reluctance or misery but all he found was composure.

"I was selfish to insist on working in my condition. You're right, our baby, our children should be my top priority right now. Marcus is growing but he is still a child that needs my guidance and since we decided to have a baby right after we got married, I should happily accept where I am now and be grateful that I have you."

Andrew's heart constricts. His face contorts and twists as he tries to hold back his tears.

"I love you so much, love..." he finally managed to utter with a loud sniff, his eyes filled with tenderness. "But you don't have to resign. Not yet. In fact, you can just take a leave because I know how much you love what you are doing."

"Really?" Macy's face lit up like a child who was given a huge lollipop.

"But,"

"But?"

"You will let me indulge you the way I want." He smirked.

Macy gave a mock sigh then resumed grinning at her husband who is now smiling gently at her.

"Thank you, love." She said as she beckoned the man closer for a kiss.

Second trimester of the pregnancy came. The morning sickness has almost disappeared and the cravings began. Macy's sense of smell was heightened so badly that any slight body odor will send her barfing.
