Andrew just looked at Marcus who was engrossed in his swing. The little boy laughed so loudly. Until unconsciously, he smiled at the boy.
Andrew who just came back from the supermarket saw Marcus playing alone on the playground of the apartment building. And when he approached the boy and asked why he was alone, Marcus only said that his mother went to meet his father at a café not far from the apartment building.
Spontaneously, he finally accompanied the boy until Macy returned. Because it feels weird to see the boy just playing alone. Andrew is sure that there are other families in their apartment, but why is Marcus not seen playing with the other children. However, the boy didn't seem to feel lonely.
He looks happy even though he is playing alone.
Andrew then sat on the other swing and started swinging slowly. Marcus glanced at him as he continued to swing so fast that Andrew had to repeatedly remind him to be careful. But the boy just laughed so cheerfully. Marcus finally looked completely like his age.
"Marcus..."
Andrew turned and saw Macy walking towards them. He watched the woman closely. Macy looks like she's not having enough sleep again, pale face and eyes that look red. But the woman could still smile at her son.
"Mommy!" exclaimed Marcus who waited until his swing stopped before he ran to his mom.
Macy held her son and kissed his cheek. "Are you bored?"
"Not really. Uncle Andrew accompanied me," said the boy.
The woman looked at him and nodded slightly as a greeting. Andrew sighed. He got up from the swing and took his shopping bag.
"Marcus said you went to see his father."
Macy smiled a little. "I did," she said as she walked towards the door of the apartment building lobby.
Andrew walked by her side. Paying attention to her who was involved in a conversation with Marcus. Well, to be more precise, only Marcus was talking about anything and Macy just listens and gives occasional responses from time to time. The boy also occasionally talks to Andrew, asking about several things and Andrew only gives simple answers.
Well, how do you answer a child's question about imaginative things?
And if it wasn't for Marcus, the situation between him and Macy would have been really awkward. Especially to Macy who tried to avoid eye contact with him. Heck, maybe Andrew shouldn't have kissed the woman more than once.
When they reached the fifteenth floor, Macy lowered Marcus from her arms. The boy then jogged to their apartment unit and entered the door code. Before entering, Marcus had time to say goodbye to Andrew.
Andrew just smiled at the polite boy. Then he looked at Macy who was about to walk in – to avoid him completely.
"Macy, can we talk?"
*****
Macy doesn't know what she was thinking.
She is currently in the living room of Andrew's apartment. When the writer asked her to talk, she wanted to refuse. But instead, she shouted at her son that she would first talk to Andrew in his apartment before closing the door. Heck, how could all of her actions be so against her will.
"Macy, do you want to drink something? Water? Cola?" asked Andrew from the kitchen.
Macy took a deep breath and walked towards the kitchen. She saw the man who was putting his groceries in the refrigerator. "No need," she answered. "What do you want to talk about?"
