96. His Moves

Siang itu, Gio menemui Chieko di sebuah cafe, masih di sekitar Oxford, tapi bukan di area yang biasa didatangi Rere. 

"You're sure she doesn't know, right?" Gio memastikan.

"Yeah, I am. She's busy with her extra assignments after she returned from Jakarta."

"Alright. So, I'm here because I need to know. What's the real relationship between my wife and Nathan?" tanya Gio to the point.

"There's nothing except what happened that night," Chieko menjawab dengan serius. 

"Are you saying this just because she's your best friend?"

"No! That's the truth! He's the one who kept chasing her! She told him many, many times that she's married, she's not interested, etc, etc."

"Then why were they kissing that night?"

"She had fruit punch. I was away in a different room, playing chess with some chess champion from our year. She didn't know there's whiskey in the fruit punch. There's truth or dare. She was already tipsy. Nathan taunted her to kiss him, telling her she's a coward, so she kissed him."

Wajah Gio terlihat amat marah. 

"Are you absolutely sure my wife never had any physical contact with that guy, except that night for the truth or dare?"

"I'm absolutely sure. Look, maybe there was some chemistry between them at first. She's smart, he's smart, they clicked. But then he went over the line by trying to ask her to sleep with him, so she avoided him. You could ask anyone in our class! You'll know that at first, Nathan, Rebecca and I were like a trio, and towards the end of the first term, we fell apart! He kept chasing her, but she refused to play around. She even went home early from Scotland because she was avoiding him!"

Ah, ya. Trivia game itu di Scotland. Dia ingat Rere murung pulang dari sana. Dia murung karena nyaris mengkhianatinya, atau karena tak jadi tidur dengan Nathan?

"She always brought me whenever they needed to talk. So they were never alone. I'm always with them. And I can swear, she was loyal to you, until that night. And I'm not going to try to explain that event again. I just can tell you one thing, she really, really regrets it."

Nathan masih di RS tentunya, karena baru tiga minggu sejak kejadian dia dihajar Gio dengan kursi kayu.

Kepalanya diperban, tangannya masih diinfus, dan beberapa kali sehari dia masih mengalami sakit kepala hebat. 

Meskipun begitu, dokter mengatakan dia tak butuh dioperasi. Dia masih muda, dan akan sembuh hanya dengan obat-obatan. 

Tiba-tiba ada telepon dari ibunya di Korea.

Suara ibunya ketakutan dan ibunya menangis. Orangtuanya punya bengkel di Seoul. Anehnya, ibunya bercerita, tiba-tiba pemilik gedung bengkel mereka minta uang sewa dobel untuk periode selanjutnya yang harusnya dimulai sebulan kemudian. Katanya, kalau tak diberikan, mereka harus menutup bengkel mereka.

Selain itu, kakak perempuannya juga tiba-tiba terancam dipecat di kantornya. 

Sungguh aneh, kenapa bisa ada dua masalah yang terjadi di hari yang sama?

Baru saja Nathan selesai bicara dengan ibunya di hp, tiba-tiba dia melihat ada seorang laki-laki yang berdiri di balik tirai ranjangnya. 

Laki-laki itu menyibakkan tirai, lalu mendekat.

Nathan mengenalinya. Dia Gio, suami Rebecca.

Tiba-tiba, Nathan merasa ketakutan. 

"Hello, Nathan Jung."
