Part two of Remember Me!
(Unedited).

A week later, you're released from the hospital. Immediately after you're allowed out of that bright room, you hurry to see Wasabi.

When you see him, something inside you breaks. It's much worse than you thought. He's hooked on multiple machines. His face is bruised. He has gauze wrapped around his forehead, where he had stitches. The doctors give you time alone. You sit in an uncomfortable plastic chair and take Wasabi's hand.

You don't realize that you're crying until you see the small drops on the white sheets. "Wasabi. . . please wake up soon. I miss you so much. I never thought we'd have to go through this. Get better, Wasabi. I miss you." You lean forward and kiss his head. Then you sit back in silence, until the doctor makes you leave.

Home is eerily silent. You don't feel like watching TV. You lay around, hoping for the doctor to call. No one calls, other than your friends.

Four weeks. That's how long it took.

When you received the call at three in the morning, you leaped right out of bed, pulled your hair up in a ponytail, shoved your shoes on, and ran out the door. You called your friends. They all said that they would meet you at the hospital later.

At the hospital, you sat in the waiting room. Though he was awake, you couldn't see him for a while. You were restless in the plush chair. A nurse at the front desk noticed. She brought you a cup of black coffee and let you pick the channel on the flat screen TV. Nothing helped. The coffee eventually cooled off, the movie that was on changed. You sat in your chair, bouncing your leg nervously.

Finally, at six in the morning, the nurse called you back. You basically ran into the room, ignoring their calls of protest. Why were they protesting that you see him, anyway?

There he was, sitting up in bed, propped up on several pillows.

You run to him and hug his shoulders. "Oh, Wasabi! I was so worried! I missed you so much!" You're crying. You pull back and wipe your eyes. "I-I'm sorry. I just- I probably look like crap, but I rushed over here." You laugh.

Wasabi smiles a little. "Um."

"Is something wrong?" You ask, noticing a confused look in his eye.

"Should I know you?"

You laugh nervously. He didn't respond. Is this not a joke?

"Wasabi. . . what do you mean?"

"I don't remember you," He states seriously. You fall to your knees beside him. Your face pales. Wasabi glances at the doctors that stand in the doorway. "I'm sorry."

Wasabi is released two weeks later with multiple prescriptions and an order to visit with a therapist once a week. You drive him home. You explained to him that you are his wife, but he doesn't remember.

"Thank you," He says, breaking the silence.

"For what?" You ask.

"Doing. . . all of this."

"Taking care of you?" You park the car in your driveway. Wasabi nods. "For better or for worse, right?" You sigh, climbing out of the vehicle.

Wasabi frowns. He wants so badly to remember you.

You bring him inside and offer to make dinner. While you're cooking, Wasabi sits on the couch, lazily flipping through channels. You feel so uncomfortable. Even though Wasabi is right in the other room, he feels farther away than ever.
