"Did you hear about the new guy?" Honey Lemon asks during lunch excitedly.

"What new guy?" Go Go asks, picking up a roll of sushi and popping it in her mouth.

"New student at SFIT!" She says, sipping her lemon water.

"And we're excited why?" Hiro asks from beside you.

"Oh come on, guys, I mean- we could find another friend! Big Hero Eight!" She says, clapping.

Wasabi stares at her. "Still not feeling the excitement," He says.

"Yeah, me neither," Fred sighs.

"You guys just don't get it," Honey Lemon says, shaking her head.

"I get it," Hiro says. "You're crazy."

Everyone laughs and Honey Lemon glares at him. "I'm not crazy."

You roll your eyes. "Sure, Honey Lemon." Hiro stares at you from the corner of his eye. He wanted to tell you how he felt, but couldn't. So he remained silent, wishing things were different.

"Ooh! There he is!" Honey Lemon shouts as a boy walks around their labs.

You recognize him at once. "(Random guy's name)?" He turns to you and grins.

"___!" he shouts, running to you.

"He knows you?" Hiro asks from beside you. Before you can answer (R/g/n) pulls you into a hug. Hiro staggers back. "Whoa- okay."

"It's so great to see you!" He says as he releases you.

"Yeah, it's been a while." You push your hair back and smile.

"You still look beautiful," he says. Hiro stiffens and you blush.

"T-thank you," You say. Hiro's fists clench. Did he lose you before he even had the chance to get you? "Why'd you move here?"

"I got a scholarship! Isn't that great?" He asks, taking your hands.

"It is great!" You say with a laugh. You turn to see Hiro, standing there with an awkward smile. "Oh, (r/g/n), this is Hiro. My best friend. Hiro, this is (r/g/n), my best friend back in (hometown)."

Hiro shakes (r/g/n)'s hand and forces another smile. "It's nice to meet you."

"You too, bro," He nods. "So, ___, want to go out for dinner?"

"Sure," You say. "Wait- I can't. It's Friday, I always go to Hiro's for dinner."

"You can skip out this time, ___," Hiro says.

"Really?" You ask. Hiro nods. "Okay. Sure, where do you wanna go?"

(R/g/n) takes your arm and leads you outside, leaving Hiro standing with just his friends.

"Hiro, honey, where's ___?" Cass asks, plopping a serving of noodles on Hiro's plate.

"She went out with someone else," Hiro says, trying to hide his frown.

Cass takes a bite of her food and sighs. "Who?"

"We have a new kid. They knew each other." Hiro shrugs and plays with his food.

Cass is silent, watching Hiro. After a few minutes she says, "Hiro, honey, I give you food so you can eat it."

"Sorry Cass," Hiro says before shoving some noodles in his mouth. He swallows and takes a drink. "I just, I don't know..."

"You like her. I know." Cass takes Hiro's hand. "And that's great. But have you ever thought that maybe she likes you back?"

"But she said thank you when (r/g/n) called her beautiful," Hiro says.

"That doesn't mean anything," Cass says, picking up the dishes. "Girls like compliments."

"So, I have to compliment her?" Hiro asks.

"Aw, Hiro, first time you're getting jealous. Adorable!" Cass says, running up to hug him.

"Right, yeah," he says, pulling away and walking to his room.

You sit down, scribbling on a sheet of paper at your desk. "Hey, ___," Hiro says with a smile as he walks in your lab.

"Hey, Hiro," You sigh sadly.

"What's wrong? Did your dinner go well?" He asks.

"No," You say. "Well, it was fine until he tried to kiss me."

"Tried to kiss you?" Hiro asks angrily.

"Yeah, he leaned down to kiss me afterwards and I said no so he pushed me against the wall and tried to kiss me anyways."

"He what?" Hiro asks angrily.

"Don't worry," you reassure him. "I handled it. Punched that loser right in the face."

Hiro laughs. "Really?"

"Yeah," You say. "Why'd you get so mad?"

"I-I just... I don't like the thought of him doing that to you."

"Do what?" You ask, standing up and taking his hands.

"Kissing you," He says nervously.

"Would... Would you kiss me, though?" You ask.

"Oh. If you wanted me to-"

"That's all I needed to hear," You say with a smile before kissing him. Hiro smiles against your lips and grabs your waist, tugging you against him. You break away. "I love you, Hiro."

"I love you too," He whispers happily.
