A sad Tadashi x Reader requested by AR_Ackerman. ^-^
Sorry for the feels.
(Unedited).
"'Dashi, are you nervous?" You ask your boyfriend, Tadashi. He taps his foot on the ground.
"Um, no. What gives you that idea?" He asks, obviously distracted.
"Tadashi. He'll do fine. Hiro is absolutely brilliant and his invention is amazing. Don't worry."
"I know. It's just that - he wants to get in to this school so badly."
"Just encourage and support him, Tadashi. He'll do great." You smile and kiss his cheek. Tadashi smiles.
"You're right."
Then, Hiro walks onto the stage. He smiles nervously. "Hello," He says into the microphone. "My name is H-Hiro- Hiro Hamada." The speakers make a loud ringing sound. You cringe. Hiro starts to panic. You squeeze Tadashi's hand, starting to feel a little anxiety yourself.
Tadashi smiles at his little brother. "Breathe," He mouths. Hiro takes a deep breath and begins to talk. As the presentation goes on, his doubts melt away. The presentation is a complete success! There's no way Callaghan would ever deny Hiro's entry into SFIT!
Your friends that stand around you clap and cheer loudly as Hiro takes a bow. Tadashi lets go of your hand and runs off to meet his brother off stage. Cass grabs your arm roughly, shouting, "That's my nephew! Yeah! That's my family! I love my family!" She hugs you tightly. You laugh and follow your group.

Minutes later, Hiro leaves the showcase with an acceptance letter in hand. Aunt Cass offers to pay for everyone's dinner, which only adds to the excitement.
You're fingers are entwined with Tadashi's. "Congratulations, Hiro. I knew you could do it." You playfully hit his shoulder.
He smiles. "Thanks, ___."
"Um, Aunt Cass? We'll catch up, okay?" Tadashi says.
"Sure," Cass replies. "Oh, I'm so proud of you!" She hugs Hiro for a second before pulling in Tadashi as well. "And you!" She looks over at you. "And you, ___. Come here! I'm proud of all three of you!" You join in on the hug.
Tadashi walks with you and Hiro to a bridge on campus. It looks over the beautiful cherry blossom trees and bright buildings. Tadashi has one arm wrapped around your waist while he talks to Hiro. You lean your head against his shoulder, completely at peace.
The peace doesn't last long. Fire alarms begin to blare, screams echo through the slightly smoky air. You look towards the showcase and see that it's completely in flames. Tadashi doesn't hesitate to sprint. You don't hesitate to follow, nor does Hiro.
"Are you okay?" He asks a lady.
She coughs into her arm. "Yeah. But Professor Callaghan is still in there!"
Tadashi doesn't hesitate to run to the doors. Hiro screams for his brother to stop. You chase after Tadashi.
"Tadashi, no!" You shout, jumping in front of him. You place your hands on his chest, pushing him back a little. "Don't! It's not worth it, Tadashi!"
"Callaghan is in here. He needs my help," Tadashi states.
"No. There's no way he's still alive," You say.
Tadashi tries to push you out of the way, out of the showcase.
"Please, 'Dashi! Don't!"
Tadashi stops at the sound of your heartbroken voice. He turns to you.
"'Dashi," You whisper.
Tadashi clenches his fists and looks around. All he can see are flames. He realizes the danger you're in. He nods. "Okay. Let's go." He steps back outside, running to his brother.
You just reach the steps when your hear a scream of pain from the inside of the building. You turn towards the building. "Professor!" You scream. You start towards the doors again.
"___, no!" Tadashi runs forward, only to be thrown backwards as the building explodes.
Everything goes black.
~
When Tadashi comes to, light hands softly brush his hair back. For a second, he thinks it's you. Then he opens his eyes. Tadashi whispers a soft, "Aunt Cass?"
"Oh, Tadashi. I'm so glad you're okay." She has tears in her eyes.
"What happened?" He mutters.
"The showcase caught on fire, sweetie. Most everyone got out okay." She continues to brush his hair back. "You managed to escape with burns and scratches. Nothing too bad, though. Hiro is completely fine."
"What about ___?" He asks. "How is she?"
"She. . . didn't make it." Her voice breaks.
Tadashi shakes his head. "What?"
"She ran back inside. She was lost in the flames. I'm sorry, sweetie. Oh, I'm so, so, so sorry."
Tadashi looks away, towards the windows. He doesn't bother to hide the tears. He can't believe that you're gone. Just like that; gone forever. His sadness filled him. Tears flood down his cheeks. Aunt Cass tries to comfort him, but her words seem so distant in Tadashi's ears. She eventually leaves and Tadashi's left alone. He lays back against his pillows. His burning eyes stare at the white cloth wrapped around his pink and red skin and wonders: how many tears can one cry before they drown?
He left that building because he didn't want to lose you.
He lost you, anyways.
