"Excuse me," You say quietly, reaching up to tap a tall man on the shoulder. He turns around, pausing before smiling. "Hi. Uh, I'm new and-"

"Oh, yeah! ___, right?" He asks cheerfully, holding a hand out to you. You smile and take his hand, shaking it. "I'm Tadashi."

"Nice to meet you, Tadashi."

Tadashi smiles bigger. He couldn't get over how pretty you were. "I-I can introduce you to everyone else, if you want."

"That'd be great," You say.

"Great. They're all at lunch at the Lucky Cat Cafe. I was just about to head down there. Care to join?"

"I'd love to," You say.

"Great. C'mon." Tadashi leads you outside and takes a seat on his scooter. You hesitantly slide down on the seat behind him. He hands you a helmet and you place it on your head, blushing a deep red. "Hang on tight," Tadashi says with a smirk.

He takes off, and you wrap your arms around his waist. Within minutes you arrive in the parking lot of Lucky Cat Cafe.

You hand your helmet to Tadashi and smooth your wild hair down. He stands and waits for you. "Thank you for letting me ride," You say with a shy smile.

"Anytime," He says. You stand up and stumble on your feet. Tadashi reaches out to steady you, hands on your shoulders. You freeze and smile up at him. Tadashi blinks and says softly, "Let's go inside." You nod.

Inside, many customers sit at tables. In the back, next to a huge glass window, sits a group of young adults. They laugh and talk, eating pastries and drinking their coffee and tea. Tadashi walks up to them and pulls up two chairs to the end of the long table.

"Hey, Tadashi!" A girl with long hair says. She wears bright colors, pink and yellow, and pushes her bright pink glasses further up her nose.

The girl sitting beside her, a shorter, much more reserved girl pops a pink bubble and smiles. She has short black hair with a few streaks of purple on her bangs.

"Hey guys. This is ___." Tadashi pulls the chair out for you and you blush as you sit.

"Hello," You say, waving.

"It's nice to meet you," A tall, muscular guy says, nodding. "I'm Wasabi."

"And I'm Fred," A guy with dirty blonde hair, held down with a teal beanie, says. He stands up and reaches over the table, shaking your hand. Wasabi rolls his eyes.

"I'm Honey Lemon," The bright girl says. "I'm so happy that we have a new friend!"

"Go Go," The other girl says, popping another pink bubble.

"So, ___, what's your major?" Wasabi asks.

"Oh. Robotics."

"Really?" He asks with a smile.

"Oooh!" Honey says, looking from you to Tadashi. "Just like Tadashi!"

You look at him and smile. He smiles back and Go Go elbows Honey Lemon's arm as she squeals. "Quiet down. Woman up."

"Sorry," She says. "You two are just so cute!"

"Cute?" Tadashi asks indifferently, but everyone notices the light blush across his cheeks.

"Oh, Tadashi," Honey says, blinking and clasping her hands together in front of her.

Fred nods in approval and Tadashi shakes his head. He regrets taking you here. He had no idea that it'd be obvious that he liked you already. "___, would you like something to eat?"

You nod. Tadashi smiles and leads you to the front counter. A woman with frizzy brown hair walks up to the counter, drying her hands on a white towel. "Tadashi," She says.

"Aunt Cass," He says. You pick out your favorite pastry and Cass smiles.

"Friend of yours?" She asks Tadashi. He nods. "It's on the house."

"Really?" You ask. She nods. "You're sure?"

"Positive," She says.

"Thank you," You say. She smiles and waves you off. You take your seat again and Tadashi smiles as you take a bite of your pastry.

"This is really good," you mumble. He flashes a smile. "She's your aunt?"

"Yeah," He says. "She's raised my brother and I since our parents died ten years ago."

"Oh," You say. "I-I'm sorry about your parents."

He shrugs. "Not a big deal, really."

"We're going to head back to school. You two have fun," Honey Lemon says, walking out with the group of snickering friends.

Tadashi sighs and mutters, "Sometimes they just annoy me."

You laugh softly. "How so?"

"They're giving me a hard time because I uh, like you." He blushes and adds, "Bunch of knuckleheads, really."

You giggle and shove him playfully. "I like you too, so."

"You do?"

You nod. Tadashi smiles. Maybe he really did have a shot after all.
