(54): Ice Skating

Tadashi x Reader requested by Artistical_Author. Here's another holiday one shot as promised. I apologize for the wait on both these and the Gravity Falls-- I'm just going through a really hard time right now, and it never seems to ease up. Anyways-- Enjoy.

It was a cold December morning. SFIT had let out for the holidays, and you and Tadashi were trying to figure out what to do on your first real day of winter break. The two of you sat close together on the couch, watching a totally boring and cheesy Christmas romance. You sigh and Tadashi presses his lips to your hair, tightening his grip around your waist. "Something wrong, ___?" He asks.

"No," You say. "I mean, this movie is pretty bad."

Tadashi smiles. "Yeah, that's true." He turns the TV off just as the happy couple lean in for the totally original kiss-under-the-mistletoe. "What do you want to do, then?"

"We should go somewhere," You suggest.

Tadashi nods. "We should. Where should we go? The library?" You shake your head. "Movies?"

"No, nothing's playing."

"Hm. The mall?"

"No, no," you say. "Too boring."

"Okay," He says. "How about, uh- ice skating!"

"Ice skating?" You ask.

"Yeah," Tadashi says cheerfully. "The pond always freezes over in the winter and they set up a rink. Want to go?"

"Sure," You say, flashing a bright smile.

An hour later, you and Tadashi walk, hand in hand, down the sidewalk. It was slick outside; it'd been snowing almost everyday for the past week. Tadashi holds two pairs of ice skates by their laces in his left hand. His right hand holds your left. "Alright," Tadashi says as the rink comes into view. A few families skate, their children clinging to their parents' legs. The two of you sit on the bench right next to the ice. "I'll help you lace your skates up."

As Tadashi laces up your skates, you tuck the hair that the wind blows in your face behind you ear. Tadashi glances up and smiles. You blush, adjusting your hat and scarf. "What?"

He shrugs. "You just look overwhelmingly beautiful today."

You laugh, your cheeks darkening. "Well, thank you."

"Anytime," He says, leaning in to kiss your forehead. "Alright. Let's skate!" Tadashi grabs your hands and eases you onto the ice. You weren't surprised at how easy ice skating was to Tadashi. He was good at everything, right? You, on the other hand, struggled a bit at first. You held on to Tadashi, who steadied you when you slipped a little too far to the left or to the right.

"This is kinda scary," You say, watching the ice. "What if it cracks?"

"It won't crack," Tadashi assures you. "Besides, if it did, I would save you."

You laugh and kiss his cheek. "You're my hero, Tadashi."

Tadashi smiles and releases one of your hands. You intertwine your fingers with his, and the two of you skate, side by side. After two hours, Tadashi drops on the bench. "Whew," He says, his head leaning back on the green wood. "I'm exhausted."

"Me too," You sigh. "And cold."

"How about we go back to the cafe for some hot chocolate?" Tadashi suggests, reaching down to untie the laces on your skates.

"Sounds great," You say. You slide your normal shoes on and take Tadashi's hand.

Back at the cafe, the two of you sit at a table near the windows and watch the snow fall. Tadashi holds one of your hands on the table, the other holds your mug of hot chocolate. As Tadashi takes a drink of his, the frothy marshmallow and chocolate  topping sticks to his upper lip. You laugh and Tadashi reaches for a napkin.

"Wait," You say, leaning in. "I've got it." You kiss him, intertwining your fingers with his.
