"Go Go!" You run to her lab. She doesn't glance over at you as she spins a wheel onto her new bike.
"What?" She asks, popping a bubble.
"Happy Valentine's Day!"
Your best friend sighs. "It is Valentine's Day, isn't it?"
"Yeah," You say. "You knew that anyways, don't pretend."
"Whatever. Useless holiday," She mutters.
"Aw, come on, Go Go. Don't be like that. Valentine's Day can be fun."
"Whatever," She mumbles, rolling her eyes.
"I got you something," You say.
"You didn't."
"I did."
"You wasted your money on this stupid holiday?"
"Um, yes!"
"Why?"
"So I can make you see that Valentine's Day is actually fun, duh!" You hand her a pack of bubblegum. "I know that you don't like pink and red heart packages, so I just decided to get you a pack of gum."
Go Go smiles a little. "That's actually cool, ___. Thanks."
You smile. "You're welcome."
She pulls a stick of gum out of the package and hands it to you. "Here. Happy Valentine's Day."
You laugh as you pull the wrapper off. "Thanks."
Go Go throws her arm around your shoulder, hugging you awkwardly for a second. Then she pulls away and returns to fixing her bike. "Now go bother Honey Lemon for a while, okay? I've had enough Valentine's Day for a lifetime. But seriously, your gift is far better than the mountain of cards and boxes of candy from Honey Lemon and Fred." She gestures to the pile of red and pink and white envelopes and boxes and smiles.
Go Go may try to hide it, but you can tell that she likes Valentine's Day at least a little bit.
