(8): Save You

Hiro x Reader requested by clarinetgirl301. I used the same villain in the film, Yokai, but I didn't put any spoilers in this. So no need to worry that you're just reading another version of the end, because you're not. ^·^  There's just a lot of feels.

"Are you sure we can fight this guy?" Wasabi asks nervously from behind you and Hiro.

"Of course we can fight this guy!" Fred says. "We're heroes!"

"We're nerds," Wasabi says. "And this is crazy. What are we thinking? There's a chance we won't make it out alive."

"You are my patients," Baymax says from your left. "I will be sure your health is perfect."

"We'll be okay, guys. We have super powers, remember?" You say with a smile, looking over at your best friend, Hiro.

"Yeah!" Fred says. "Nothing can stop us now!"

"Shut up, Fred," Wasabi mumbles.

"Alright guys," Hiro says as a building comes into view. "Yokai should just be in there. All we have to do is get in there and stop him from making anymore of my microbots."

"You make it sound easy," Wasabi says.

"It will be easy," You say. "Trust me."

Wasabi sighs and shakes his head. "I don't know..."

"I trust you," Hiro says.

"I trust that you were telling me the truth when you told me that we could do this. So, let's go," You whisper to him and he smiles, touching your back before jogging ahead to the building with Baymax.

"Wasabi," He whispers, waving him forward.

Wasabi slowly walks forward towards Hiro and nods, quickly slicing his plasma blades across the sides of the door. It falls with a loud banging sound and everyone runs in.

"Yokai!" Hiro shouts as the seven of you see him standing above on a platform. Yokai turns around and then raises his arms, the microbots following his gesture. "Get ready, guys," Hiro says.

Fred breathes fire in Yokai's direction and Yokai blocks off the flames using a wall of microbots. Meanwhile, Go Go and Honey Lemon run forward, firing discs and chemicals at him. He creates another wall before pushing the microbots towards all of your friends.

"No!" Hiro shouts as Honey, Go Go, and Wasabi are pushed back against the wall. Another wave of microbots shoves Fred and Baymax against the other wall, leaving you and Hiro alone. Yokai laughs and walks forward, the microbots moving with him. Hiro takes your hand and runs off, screaming, "Run! C'mon!"

You follow, stumbling around behind him. Yokai is no where to be found when you look over your shoulder, but a swarm of microbots are floating closer. "Hiro!" You shout in fear.

"I know!" He says, swinging you around him and pushing you ahead of him. "Go!" He screams. "Don't stop running!"

You're breathing hard, sweat pouring down your face. You have no idea where you're going, so you keep running straight.  Suddenly Yokai appears in front of you, just a few feet away. He holds a knife, gleaming in the fluorescent light of the abandoned building he has built as a lair. You slam to a stop and Hiro gasps as Yokai takes a step closer to you. Hiro grabs your arm and shoves you behind him.

"Run," He whispers to you. You turn and see only microbots. A wall of them built to trap you.

"There's no where to run," Yokai says, stepping closer.

You whimper and touch Hiro's shoulder. Hiro's breathing grows more rapid until you whisper, "Hiro, what do we do? I'm scared."

He's silent for a second, choosing who's life to save: yours or his, as Yokai walks closer. He makes his decision and turns, touching your cheek. "Don't worry," He says. "I'll keep you safe."

Your eyes widen and he turns, running towards Yokai. "No!" You shout. "No, Hiro!" He runs right into Yokai, grabbing for the mask and dodging the movement of Yokai's arms as Yokai tries to stab him.

Yokai laughs at Hiro's struggles and throws him down. Hiro falls on his back and quickly sits up, only to be pushed down by Yokai again. Yokai hovers over him, holding the knife over his head. "No, stop!" You shout. "Please," You say weakly, falling to your knees. "Please don't. Kill me, don't kill him."

"No," Hiro says. "No, don't-"

"Kill you instead of the boy?" Yokai asks. "Either way, I can stop you."

"No," You say. "If you kill him, I'm going to kill you."

"Really?" He asks, laughing.

"I'm not kidding," You say angrily. "But i-if you let him go, I won't fight."

"___, no-" Hiro says again, fear in his eyes and voice.

"Shut up," Yokai sneers. "Deal." He stands up and quickly walks to you, backing you up into the wall.

"No!" Hiro shouts, scrambling to his feet. "No!"

Just as Yokai reaches you, Hiro pushes into him. The sound of breaking glass echos through the building and Yokai falls down to the pavement below. Hiro watches as Yokai gets back up and runs off. "Dang," He mutters. "If we go now we can find the others and then-" Hiro turns to you and stops midsentence as he sees you on the floor, grasping your side and groaning. A small pool of blood surrounds you. "No," Hiro whispers. He falls to his knees and crawls closer to you, lifting your hands to check you wound.

"Hiro," You whimper.

"No, no, no!" Hiro cries. "I-I was supposed to save you! I thought- I could- B-Baymax can still fix this. He can." Hiro scrambles up and you grab for his hand.

"No, Hiro," You say weakly. "He can't. Baymax can heal the sick and injured. I'm already gone."

"No. You're not gone. You're here. With me," He gives you a sad smile, tears falling down his cheeks. You smile back and relax against the wall, your breathing slowing. "No, ___, stay with me. Stay, okay? Look," He takes your hand in both of his and holds them to his chest. "I-I can't go on without you. You're my best friend."

"I love you, Hiro," You whisper.

Hiro laughs, emotionless, and touches your cheek. "I love you too."

"I'm sorry," You say, a tear sliding down your cheek.

"No, no," Hiro says, panicked. "No, don't go. Don't be sorry. Don't leave me." Your eyes begin to close. "No! Please!" He kisses you over and over again on the lips, hoping somehow you'll be okay. "Please, I'm sorry. I- I can't..."

"Hiro," You whisper, eyes closed. He cries and pulls you into his lap. "I love you," You say again.

"No, ___, please, I love you, don't go." He sobs loudly as the absence of your heartbeat fills the room. "I told you that I would keep you safe and I couldn't. I'm sorry, so sorry. I didn't think anything would happen... I thought..." He trails off, crying over you.

"Hiro?" A voice asks from behind. Honey Lemon. He looks over at Baymax, who's armor is damaged. All of their armor is damaged.

"Baymax, please, save her! You can!" Hiro says. Baymax walks forward and scans your body. He looks at Hiro and remains silent. Hiro nods and holds you closer, crying into your shoulder. Not even a robot had the heart to tell Hiro that you were already too far gone to save.
