fighting with you

a/n: a little smut in honor of my 20th birthday today (july 17th)!! ;) this is how the fight should've gone.

Nini glances at the group in front of her as she angrily takes a sewing pin, stabbing it into the ball of fabric in her hand. frustratingly, she throws the item down, getting up to move, "i'm getting a root beer."

the group is silent as she disappears into the kitchen, all of the teens catching on to her change of mood. Ashlyn sends Gina a look, the young curly haired girl getting up to follow her friend.

"hey Neens, everything okay?" she asks hesitantly, leaning against the counter.

the brunette girl closes the fridge, slamming the soda can on to the kitchen counter, "no Gina, it's not okay because i just found out that you thought my ex boyfriend sent you chocolates when we were still together."

"Nini-"

"what happened to 'it's all good! we're friends now!' huh? you told me that last semester was in the past and you and Ricky weren't anything. i guess that's not true considering that you thought he'd send you chocolates on valentine's day when he was dating me." the petite girls face is red with frustration.

Gina sighs, "Nini, i'm sorry but he was sending me mixed signals and hypothetical questions. i swear that i never over stepped but it was clear he was hurting on valentine's day when you didn't make an effort to see him. you should've seen him, he was crushed."

"make and effort?!" Nini exclaimed as she rolled her eyes, "i was in the hospital with my mom! he knew that!"

the two girls are silent for a moment, both staring at each other intensely. the junior girls eyes squint in confusion, shaking her head a little, "wait...how do you know what he looked like that day? when i told him i was at the hospital, it was after school."

Gina avoids the other girls eyes. they can both feel the glares from the group of people standing in the doorway to the kitchen.

"oh my god...were you there? while i was on the phone with him?"

the younger girl doesn't answer, instead looking down at her shoes.

Nini feels lightheaded. she isn't sure what to do or say. it all feels like everything is crashing down on top of her and nothing can stop it. her heart races as she looks around the room for an exit.

"i...i need to go. i can't be here anymore."

the group is silent as they watch her go, knowing there's no use in stopping her.

she grips the wheel as she drives through the city, thinking about all the new information she's learned over the past hour.

why did he never tell her?

she feels like a fool, an idiot. she had no idea that her boyfriend was sending mixed signals to another girl while they were still together and it makes her sick.

before she knows it, she's pulling up in front of his apartment building, hastily parking and making her way to his front door, the tiny patio in the front with dying plants and a sad lawn chair making it clear that it was the Bowen's apartment.

she knocks and steps back a bit when the door swings open, the grown man smiling, "Nini! it's nice to see you! what can i help you with?"

"hi Mr Bowen, is Ricky here? it's important that i talk to him."

the older man shakes his head, "he's not at the moment but he just texted me that he's gotta come back home and get something for Red so you're welcome to wait in his room for him."
