scares

Ricky and Nini weren't stupid, they knew to always be protected when they had sex. that didn't mean that they hadn't had slip ups before though.

there were three times in their life that they thought it was over for them. Nini can safely say that pregnancy scares are the worst thing ever.

senior year of high school

they had been back together for almost two years when the first one happened. they were seniors in high school, they'd began sleeping together a few months before this. they were always careful about making sure that they were fully protected. of course they'd had the talks with their parents and in health class but even more so, Nini was on birth control pills and Ricky always made sure to wear a condom, the last thing they needed was an unplanned pregnancy.

that didn't mean that they didn't have a scare though. a lot of it had to do with the party they went to thrown by a mutual friend. they'd both gotten a little more than tipsy and Nini's moms were gone for the weekend meaning that Ricky stayed over.

it was clumsy, considering that they were both buzzed and fumbling around. Nini was positive that she saw Ricky pull the condom out of his wallet. she was so sure. until three weeks later when she missed her period.

when she figured out she was late, she called Ricky sobbing. he rushed over, holding her in his arms as she cried about how her life could be over, how their lives could be over. he kissed her quickly before he slipped out of her room to call a friend with a favor.

an hour later, Kourtney stood outside the bathroom door with Ricky, giving him a death glare.

"what?!" he exclaimed.

Journey shook her head, "you're a dumbass you know that right?"

Ricky was offended, "what the hell does that mean?"

Kourtney rolled her eyes as she whispered-yelled at the boy, "you might've gotten her pregnant! did you not listen to any of the movies in health class?! wrap it up you idiot!"

Ricky was about to respond when the bathroom door flew open, a red faced Nini holding a little white stick in her hand.

"hey babe, you okay?" he asked nervously.

Nini shook her head gently, "i don't want to look at it alone. i want you to look at it with me."

Ricky pulled Nini against him as they prepared to turn the stick over. who knew that a tiny white stick with lines could determine their whole future. they held their breaths as they turned over the stick.

Ricky let out a breath as he saw the stick. one line, she wasn't pregnant.

Nini let out a sob, "oh thank god!" she collapsed against Ricky's chest, the boy pulling her against him as she let out a few more sobs. he pulled apart from her and wiped her tears.

"i'm sorry Ricky but i'm not ready to be a mom. that was the most terrifying experience of my life!"

Ricky chuckled as he pulled the girl against him again in a hug. he glanced up and saw Kourtney trying to leave. Nini noticed too.

"hey Kourt?"

they girl turned around, "thank you. you didn't have to go buy me a test, i know that was probably embarrassing but i really appreciate it." Nini pulled her best friend into a hug.

"i've always got your back Nini. i'll buy you a hundred pregnancy tests if i have to. i'd do anything for you."

Nini smiled at her friend. she quickly stuffed the test back in the box, putting the box back in the plastic bag and handing it to Kourtney, "can you get rid of this for me? i don't want my moms to find it. they don't need to know."
