summer nights

Nini wiped the sweat from her forehead as she stood in the beading hot sun. why she wanted to become a counselor, she had no idea. she was on lifeguard duty, watching all the kids swimming from the dock. she looked out into the lake to see her boyfriend, acting like a child with all of his campers around him splashing in the water. he caught her eye and sent her a wink to which she blushed in response.

it had been Nini's smart idea to get Ricky as well as Gina and EJ to become camp counselors with her for the summer. Nini and Ricky were heading off to college in the fall and with EJ already gone and his girlfriend Gina still in high school as a senior, she figured it was a good time for them to all get to spend time together.

Nini blew her whistle as the activity time came to a close, the signal for them all to go get changed for dinner. she climbed down from her tower as the kids from Ricky's cabin rushed past her, her boyfriend slinking up behind her. his hands gripped her hips from behind, his breath hot on her neck, "i want you to blow my whistle."

Nini's face formed a shocked expression, her hand flying to hit him in the chest as she turned around, "Richard Bowen!"

he simply smirked and laughed as he ran up the hill to the cabins. she was seriously going to kill him. he had been flirty and suggestive all summer long. she often had to remind him that kids were present when he got a little too handsy or said something inappropriate.

she entered her campers cabin first to check on everybody before heading to hers and Gina's cabin. her friend was already dressed for dinner when Nini came in the screen door.

"hey Neens!"

Nini was still flushed from her boyfriends comment only moments before, Gina catching a drift from her friend, "you okay?"

Nini snapped out of it, "oh yeah, i'm totally fine. Ricky just said something to me again and i'm trying to not think about it."

Gina smirked, "you know i could always go stay in EJ's cabin if you need some alone time."

"no! it's fine! plus, the girls are next door and i don't want them to hear anything."

Gina's eyebrows raised, "why? are you two loud?"

Nini grabbed her clothes and marched into their bathroom, "oh my god, shut up!"

the mess hall was packed with children running around. Nini guided her girls into the large room, sending them to get in line for food. Nini found the table in the back of the room with her friends.

she took a seat next to Ricky, his hand encasing her thigh as she pressed a kiss to his still damp curls, "hey guys!"

"hey, i was just telling Gi and Ricky here that i was able to sneak some alcohol in my duffle bag if you guys wanna party tonight." EJ said, whispering the last part as the group leaned into the table.

everybody agreed to meet at Ricky and EJ's cabin around midnight that night. the hours leading up till then were filled with regular camp activities like roasting marshmallows, campfire songs, and scary stories before all the kids were off to bed.

Gina and Nini made their way quietly to their boyfriends cabin, letting themselves in when they got there. EJ had already set out the bottles. Nini took a seat in Ricky's lap as she surveyed the selection of vodka, wine coolers, and beer. she didn't notice at first how her boyfriend stilled completely as she sat on him, maybe it had to do with her jean shorts that were perhaps just a little too short.

her fingers threaded through his curls as she leaned in to whisper in his ear, "relax baby."

the group of four had quickly begun to drink, all sitting in a circle on the floor. Gina was nursing a wine cooler while EJ downed his third beer, Ricky and Nini were passing the bottle of vodka back and forth.
