"hey has anybody seen Nini today?" Ricky asked as he approached his friend group near the main entrance.

the all muttered among themselves before Kourtney turned to him, "no we haven't. isn't she your girlfriend, shouldn't you know where she is?"

Ricky rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone, pulling up his message thread with his girlfriend.

hey babe, haven't seen you all day. are you not at school? ~R

Ricky continued to worry while his friends chatted around him. his phone vibrated in his hand and he unlocked it to see the message.

sorry. i wasn't feeling well. can you come over? i need you you baby. ~N

i'll be there in 10. love you. ~R

Ricky shoved his phone into his back pocket his jeans, quickly saying goodbye to his friends and heading to his car. he drove quickly to to Nini's house, the route was so familiar that he could drive there in his sleep. he pulled into the driveway, using his key to get into the house. he'd had a key for years, he and kid dad often watched the Salazar-Roberts house when they went on vacation.

he headed up the stairs when he didn't see his girlfriend in the living room. her bedroom door was closed so Ricky pushed it open and softened at the sight of his love. the girl was curled up under her comforter with an electric heating pad on her stomach.

Ricky walked into the room, closing the door behind him and slipped his vans and jean jacket off. he crawled into her bed and wrapped his arms around her. Nini turned and curled into him, her arms curling around his waist and her head pressing into his chest.

"what's wrong baby?" Ricky asked as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Nini lifted her head so he could hear her, "i'm on my period. i feel like crap."

"i'm sorry baby. what can i do for you?"

"i feel better now that you're here. you're better than my heating pad." Nini chuckled, lightly swatting him against the chest.

"oh well at least i could be of service to you." he responded.

Ricky pulled her back into him, hearing her breathing evening out. he laid in silence as he let her sleep against his chest. after about an hour, Nini woke up again.

"enjoy your nap dear?" he asked as he looked at Nini rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"yes thank you."

Ricky nodded, "you want me to get you something to eat?"

Nini nodded and Ricky slowly got out of the bed and grabbed her laptop to pull up The Office, he pressed play and left the room. he was standing in the kitchen, making a grilled cheese which was one of Nini's guilty pleasure snacks. Carol walked in the door, startling a little when she saw the boy.

"oh Ricky! you scared me! what're you doing here?" she asked as she set her purse on the counter.

"oh Nini texted me after school that she wanted me to come over cause she didn't feel good." he said as he flipped the sandwich.

Carol nodded, smiling. she knew that when Nini didn't feel good she wanted to be cuddled. she and Dana used to take turns holding her when she was sick but as soon as she started dating Ricky, they were replaced for the teen boy.

Ricky places the sandwich onto a plate, filled a cup up with lemonade, and said goodbye to Carol before going beach upstairs. he set the dishes down on Nini's side table before getting back into the bed with her, this time they sat against the headboard.

Nini ate in silence, the two chuckling at the show playing on her laptop. every so often Ricky's hand would graze her thigh and squeeze it, a comforting gesture.

Nini finished her food and curled back into her boyfriend. Ricky put his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.

"feel better?" he asked.

Nini smiles, "yes i do. thank you for coming and taking care of me. you didn't have to do that, my moms could've taken care of me."

"you said you needed me so i came. i'm always going to be here for you." Ricky smiled down at the girl in his arms.

she was his best friend. his everything. he'd do anything for her. he'll be here till the end.
