here's to the ones that we got
cheers to the wish you were here,
but you're not

Ricky Bowen stood still at the bar of the hotel restaurant, the music of his best friends wedding reception booming behind him.

he stirred his glass of whisky in his hand, staring down at the brown liquid as the music played in the background. he bopped his head slightly to the song when he heard a voice, her voice.

he looked down the bar, seeing her for the first time that night. she looked beautiful. her long brown hair was pinned up on her head, her blush pink dress hugging her curves perfectly. he smiled sadly when he saw a man wrap his arms around her waist, her giggling at the action.

she used to giggle like that when he wrapped his arms around her.

Nini stood at the counter, slicing potatoes for dinner. she was humming along to the record playing from the living room in her apartment.

she giggled when a pair of arms slipped around her waist, "what're you doing?"

Ricky shrugged against her, his hands splayed over her stomach, "i missed you."

Nini chuckled, "you were just in the living room."

he turned her around in his arms, "well i've missed your face, you're just too beautiful to not look at."

Nini smirked as she leaned up to kiss him, "i love you so much."

"i love you so much." Ricky was snapped out of his day dream at the sound of her voice, the words coming out of her mouth were like a punch to the gut.

he sunk back against the bar, downing his glass in one swig. he forced a smile when he saw his wife coming towards him, "i've been looking for you!"

he wrapped his arm around her waist tightly, "sorry, i just needed a drink."

she smiled softly, "let's go dance."

Ricky tried to resist looking back at the woman at the bar as his wife dragged him to the dance floor. he jumped around with his friends for a while, forgetting about the girl across the room for a little bit. that was, until a certain song played, their song.

the opening chords to Can I Have This Dance from HSM3 started to play as his wife pulled him against her. he glanced across the dance floor, watching as the couple danced to the song.

this was supposed to be their song, it was special.

senior prom had been something Nini and Ricky waited for all their lives. they wore matching colors, Nini in a maroon dress, Ricky's bow tie matching her dress.

they swayed across the dance floor to several songs, jumping around with their friends. Nini giggled as he swung her around in a circle to the upbeat song playing. the song ended and the beginning to their favorite song played.

Ricky smiled widely, "they're playing our song!"

he pulled Nini against him, his hand on her waist, his other hand holding one of hers as her other swung around his neck. her face rested against his neck, their breathing quiet as they danced slowly to their favorite song.

"i want this to play at our wedding." Nini said quietly.

Ricky grinned, "it'll be our first dance."

Nini leaned away from his neck to meet his lips in a slow kiss, their noses brushing together as their lips moved slowly against each other.
