giving thanks

Ricky pinches the bridge of his nose as he looks down at his phone, displaying a picture of his dad, "hey dad, i was just about to call you."

"oh yeah? what's up bud? mom and i were just talking about our Thanksgiving plans. she and Todd are planning on joining Jenn and us for dinner this year."

he sighs as he glances across the room, tilting his head to the side to see his wife in the kitchen, "yeah about that, Neens actually wants to host Thanksgiving this year."

"really?"

"yeah," he says with a deep breath, "you know, it's our first major holiday since we got married and since moving into the house so she has this idea about hosting, she wants both our families to come."

Ricky waits a minute as it's silent on the phone. he glances up slightly to see his wife leaning against the wall, her hand fisted in front of her mouth as she waits for her father in law to make a decision.

"i think that's a great idea, let Nini host! it'll give her a chance to practice for when you guys start your own family and have kids to cook for!"

he chuckles awkwardly as he nods to Nini, "okay dad, don't get ahead of yourself. i'll call you later with details. i love you."

they hang up the phone as the brunette girl looks at her husband with wide eyes, "do i get to host?"

he nods as he comes to hold her gently against his chest, "yep, we'll have everyone here for dinner. gives us a chance to show off our new married life."

Nini grins widely as she gets up on her tiptoes to press a quick but gentle kiss to his lips, rubbing his shoulder slightly, "i have so many plans to make!"

Ricky just laughs as she runs off through the house, muttering something about a grocery list.

Thanksgiving day had finally arrived and Nini was ready for all her tasks.

it was five am and she was wide awake. she was trying to figure out a way to slip out of her husbands arms without waking him but as luck has it, he begins to stir.

"babe? what're you doing?" he mumbles as she sits up in bed.

the girl sighs a little bit, "i gotta start prepping the turkey."

Ricky rolls over and glances at the clock on his nightstand, "Neens, it's 5am. the turkey can wait. come back to bed with me."

she stands up and brushes her hair behind her ears, "i'd love to honey but if i don't start now then i'll be off track all day."

he whines a little, Nini knowing her husband hates to sleep without her next to him, "but baby, come cuddle with me."

it's hard to resist his pout but somehow she does, "sorry, i love you more than life sweetie but i gotta start cooking."

Ricky simply groans as his wife leaves the room.

when Ricky walks into the kitchen, he sees Nini adorned in an apron with a turkey on it. he can't help but chuckle.

she lets out a little breath as she turns to look at him, "what?"

he shakes his head, "nothing, you're just adorable."

he watched as her cheeks burn red a little before she swipes hair from her face, "can you help me stuff the turkey?"

Ricky smirks a little as he comes to stand behind her, his hands gripping her hips tightly, "i'd rather stuff something else, if you ask me."
