the long awaited weekend was finally here, their wedding.

Ricky and Nini were finally getting married. it was something everybody knew was coming but they're finally getting to say i do.

the wedding rehearsal dinner was happening in Mike Bowen's backyard, he had volunteered to host the dinner as Ricky and Nini's condo had no room for all their friends.

everything was getting set up. Mike was out in the backyard grilling, Dana and Carol we're setting up chairs and tables out back, and Ricky and Nini were goofing off in the kitchen.

they were supposed to be setting the deserts out. Nini was finishing frosting a couple cupcakes when Ricky flicked some frosting onto her nose.

"boop."

Nini gasped, "Ricky! you did not just do that!"

the woman scooped some frosting onto her fingers and smeared it across her fiancés cheek. she laughed as he attempted to rub his cheek against her, "Ricky! oh my god! stop!" she giggled loudly as he pulled her into his arms, his hands splayed out against her back.

his eyes flicked between her eyes and her lips, "maybe i don't want to stop." he leaned down and captured her lips with his. Nini moaned into the kiss, her hands coming up to tug at his curls when his tongue slipped in between her teeth.

"okay lovebirds, that's enough. i don't want my lunch to come up." Kourtney said as she came into the kitchen.

the couple parted at their friends entrance. Nini rested her head against Ricky's chest for a moment, her hands dropping down his neck from his hair.

she turned to her friend, "sorry Kourt, we got carried away."

the black girl grinned, "it's fine, just wasn't really in the mood to watch y'all suck each other's faces."

the couple laughed at their friends comment. Kourtney was Nini's maid of honor, having been her best girl friend since the second grade. she wouldn't have any other person standing next to her as she married the man of her dreams in 24 hours.

Nini patted Ricky's chest as she picked up the plate of cupcakes after wiping the frosting off her nose. she carried them outside to where all the adults were finishing setting up.

"ah my baby girl! how're you feeling?!" Dana asked.

Nini sighed contently, "i'm fine, just excited. ready to finally be married after planning this wedding for almost two years."

the couple had been engaged for 18 months. they planned to get married the previous year but Ricky had been finishing up his masters to start teaching so they had spent a lot of money on that plus, Nini was trying to start her own bakery which took a lot of money and time away from wedding planning.

now, Nini happily owned a small bakery in the heart of Salt Lake and Ricky was teaching band at East High. they were finally settled and ready to officially start their lives together.

Carol fussed over Nini's outfit, smoothening out the wrinkles in her daughter short white dress, "you're a mess dear."

Nini chuckled, "i know Mama. it's just the rehearsal, everything's fine."

Carol smiled at her daughter as Nini moved through the backyard, checking over everything. Dana settles next to her as they watched their daughter laugh with her friends who just started arriving.

"we did good." Dana says contently.

Carol squeezed her hand, "yes, yes we did."

"Nini!" EJ called out, catching the young woman's attention, "these cupcakes are amazing!"
