Nini was at her locker, taking her books out of her backpack and switching them out for the ones she needed for the weekend. she felt a pair of hands plant on her waist and she bit her lip.

"hey, haven't seen much of you today. you okay?" she asked quietly, continuing to grab her belongings.

she felt a nod against her head, "yeah, i'm fine. i missed you."

Nini hummed, "me too."

she closed her locker and zipped up her backpack, getting ready to head to her after school club meeting. she turned to face her boyfriend, he was smiling that signature wide smile she loves.

"do you have any plans tonight?" he asked.

Nini thought for a moment, "no, i mean it's friday but i'll probably just get a head start on my homework. why?"

his hands tightened on her waist, "can it wait? i wanna take you out tonight."

Nini smiled and giggled, "okay, yeah. what's the plan?"

he smirked and kissed her forehead, "it's a surprise. i'll pick you up at 6."

when Nini had gotten home from her meeting an hour later, she received a text from her boyfriend telling her to dress comfortably. she changed into a pair of leggings, one of Ricky's old East High sweatshirts and her white converse. she pulled her hair up into a ponytail and grabbed her little purse, running out the front door when she got a text from him.

she climbed into the passenger seat of his beat up Honda, kissing him quickly, "hi!"

he smiled and pulled out of her driveway, "hi baby."

Nini tried to coax out of Ricky the plan for tonight throughout the whole drive, the boy never giving it up. she ended up settling in her seat and singing along to the radio as she watched him drive through the downtown area of Salt Lake.

she gasped excitedly when he pulled in to the drive-in theatre. she jumped in her seat a little, "we're having a movie date?! have i told you i love you yet tonight? cause i do."

Ricky chuckled as he parked the car, turning the radio station to the drive-in channel. he looked over at his girlfriend, excitement written all over her face.

"they're showing Grease tonight and i know it's one of your favorites so i figured it'd be a great date."

Nini simply leaned over and kissed him quickly. he grinned when they pulled back, his thumb brushing over her hand lightly.

"i love it Ricky!"

he smiled, "good, i'm glad. i brought blankets, they're in the backseat. i'm gonna go to the snack bar and get us some stuff, i'll be right back."

Nini watched as he got out of the car and walked to the old snack bar shack across the field. she smiled to herself, unbuckling and reaching into the backseat to pull out the blankets he brought for them. she draped one over her lap, the other sitting folded up next to her on the center console for when he comes back.

she was scrolling through her phone, the sky turning a pink color as the sun started to go down when Ricky returned. he had a large tub of popcorn (extra butter of course, Nini's favorite), a small box of pizza, a large soda for them to share, and a packet of sour patch kids since he knew she loved them.

Ricky passed the food across to Nini and climbed back in the car, throwing the blanket over his lap. he grabbed back some of the food from her, taking the time to get situated with the new items. they dug into the small pizza, half pepperoni for him and half extra cheese for her. they were laughing about something that Red had done in Mazzarra's tech class earlier that week when the movie screen lit up.

"oooh! it's my favorite part!" Nini said excitedly as the lobby snack song came on, the cartoon popcorn and soda dancing across the screen.

Ricky chuckled at his girlfriend, she was an easy girl to please. she got so excited by the littlest things, it's what he loved most about her.

Nini snuggled into her seat as the opening credits of the movie played, showing Danny and Sandy on the beach. Nini had one hand in the popcorn tub, the other was wrapped tightly around Ricky's hand. she giggled at the antics of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, Ricky smiling widely as she laughed at the movie like she hadn't seen it hundreds of times.

they both sang along to Summer Nights, the teens smiling as they sang loudly to each other in the small car. Ricky pretended not to notice how she tightened her grip on his hand as Olivia Newton-John crooned out Hopelessly Devoted To You.

they sang along to the movie, the night sky getting progressively darker as the time went by. Nini's hand hardly left his until the dance scene began to play.

"i'm cold." Nini murmured as she wrapped her blanket around herself.

Ricky reclined his seat a little more, pushing it away from the steering wheel, "come here." he said, his arms open.

Nini pushed down her blush as she carefully crawled over all their garbage to get to his seat. she placed herself between his legs, Ricky's arms folding around her, encasing the both of them in his blanket. he pressed a quick kiss to the back of her head as she molded herself into him.

they sang quietly to each other when You're The One That I Want came on, it was their favorite song from the movie. Ricky quietly sang the words into her ear as he slowly rocked their bodies to the beat of the song, Nini giggling at the action.

Nini tried not to act sad when the movie ended, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John flying off into the sky in the signature red Thunderbird. she knew that with the movie over, they'd have to go home which meant she had to move from his arms, and she did not want to do that.

Ricky pressed a kiss to her temple, "come on, i'll take you home."

Nini nodded, moving back to her seat as they began to clean up. Ricky adjusted his seat and turned the engine over, starting the car back up. Nini sighed back into the passenger seat as they drove out of the drive in lot. she reached for his right hand, resting their interlaced hands on her lap as she snuggled into the blanket wrapped around her. she didn't even know she fell asleep until they pulled into her driveway.

Ricky's hand cupped her chin, "babe, we're here."

Nini stretched as she stirred from her sleep, smiling sheepishly at her boyfriend. she leaned into the back seat to grab her purse, placing her blanket in its place. she kissed him sweetly on the lips, "i had a great time tonight Ricky, thank you."

he smiled, "anything for you. goodnight."

she murmured a goodnight in response as she got out of the car. Ricky's voice stopped her before she shut the door.

"hey Neens," he started, the girl leaning back into the car to see the goofy smile on his face, "you're the one that i want."

she grinned widely, biting her lip as she responded, "you are the one i want."

she shut the car door gently and headed up to her front porch to go inside. Ricky waited until the got inside and waved at him from the door before he pulled out of the driveway. he couldn't help but smile to himself widely.

"god i love her."
