Ricky wasn't exactly Nini's ideal type of guy but for some strange reason, she couldn't get enough of him.

Nini Salazar-Roberts was the picture perfect girl next door. she came from a loving and supportive family of two moms who raised her to be whatever she wanted to be, which ended up being a middle school english teacher. Nini had always been a straight A student, rarely partied, and only dated guys who fit her image and fit into her happy lifestyle.

that's why when she met Ricky, her life was flipped upside down.

Ricky Bowen was the polar opposite. he had been tossed between houses and parents and cities as a kid, his mom in Chicago and his dad in Provo. he was a horrible student, often skipped school growing up, nearly flunked out of college, and partied every weekend. he went through girls like he went through packs of gum; frequent and quickly.

Nini had stopped into her favorite coffee shop after a particularly difficult day at work, she wanted to treat herself for handling tough students all day. she caught the eye of one of the busboys and couldn't seem to stop blushing.

Ricky was the complete opposite of her. he never had a stable job, wanting to pursue music wasn't exactly what she'd call stable, he was a "skate rat" as she called him, he had tattoos which she normally despised, he was generally quite rude, and he just didn't look her type, he was always wearing dark clothes and a leather jacket.

she couldn't stop herself from falling in love with him. they had sat and talked for hours after his shift ended and then, in an untypical Nini fashion, they went back to her apartment together. she figured she'd never see him again but he called her the next day and wanted to see her. they've been together ever since.

she brought Ricky home to meet her parents about four months into the relationship. things were moving quickly between them and she felt it was the right time. he was formal and nice, only making about three rude comments but apologized after every one. her moms were concerned about their daughter dating a guy like him but she insisted that she was happy with him.

Ricky moved in with Nini about 8 months into their relationship. they knew they wanted to be together so Ricky packed up his place, told his roommate to find somebody else and moved in with his girlfriend. Nini loved waking up with him next to her.

it was late at night, they had just come back from dinner and promptly fell into bed together. Nini rested against his shoulder as he stroked her back lazily with his fingers. Nini ran her fingers across his chest, outlining the several tattoos placed there, "i've been thinking about getting one."

Ricky turned to look at her, surprise in his eyes, "you? miss Nina Salazar-Roberts, wants a tattoo?"

Nini shrugged, "yeah i don't know, i kinda wanted one in high school, i never went through with it though cause i wasn't sure what to get."

Nini traced the design of his tattoo of a bird on his chest, her fingers dragging lazily, "you should get my name tattooed." it came out of her mouth before she even realized what she said.

Ricky raised his eyebrows in thought, "i've thought about it. i think i love you enough to get your name."

Nini snorted and pushed his chest lightly, leaning up on her elbows to look at him, pushing her hair behind her ears, "we should get matching tattoos. something that we can both share."

"i'd like that." Ricky said, cupping her cheek to pull her to his lips.

two weeks later, Nini and Ricky walked hand in hand into Ricky's favorite tattoo shop. Nini clutched his hand tightly, she was a little nervous, not knowing what to expect.
