This is really odd...and it sure beats the heck out of the idea that ghosts only show up in isolated places:

Not-so-scary story: Someone please tell me why I'm with my current partner please... we both seem to be "magnetic" when it comes to these things, both having the third eye (hers naturally open, while i think mine was cultivated). Anyway... with a special event coming up, we seem to have been attracting more spirits than usual, which isn't all that bad, they're all nice... a bit curious but that's it. Neither of us thought anything of it till the day of the rehearsals. We were lining up to buy MRT tickets when something pinched me (a bit hard) on my left arm. I screeched, thinking that it might be an attempt upon my bag. But when I turned around, there was nothing there. My partner just shushed me, and told me in a quiet voice that she saw that there was a kid who had reached out for my arm and then just vanished.

A little scarier - My sister and I had met up for lunch at Glorietta. She had a friend with her, which made it slightly harder to decide where to eat (nahihiya), so we spent a considerable time standing at the corner of one of the hallways that led to the central activity center, trying to decide where to go for lunch. I vaguely recognized that there was someone behind me, but I thought he was just trying, like us, to avoid the milling crowds. But as I stepped back, I was taken aback by his (it turned out the person was male) appearance. It was a very tall, pale man, looking like he was in his 60's at least, looking steadily ahead. I didn't think he even noticed me, even though I almost backed into him.

He then proceeded to walk past my two companions who were still animatedly discussing lunch options. Me being my mean little self, I nudged my sister and said, "naman... some people take halloween too seriously. Look at that guy in the brown polo. Creepy!" She just looked at me funny and said "which guy?"

"That guy!" I pointed to him making his way slowly through the crowd. "the really tall one in brown...yun, o! Sayang nakatalikod na sya... you should have seen his face, parang drawn na ewan...parang nung nakaratay na si daddy" (in reference to my grandfather who died bed-ridden)

My sister and her companion looked in the direction I was pointing and said "wala naman a!" To which my sister added "wag ka ngang manakot!"

"but dude, he's right there!" I insisted, "he's taller than everyone else, palibhasa maliit ka, look up kaya?!?!"

"wala talaga!" they said, sabay hila sa aking papalayo. it was really creeeepy.

Remember my new jobbie at the odd building that was blessed several times since i was here? Three times in the first five months, i think. I was told that this was because the employees thought it was scary or unlucky... then just last week, over lunch, my officemates told me the truth - two women had been killed here. One was suicide, the other was raped and killed. Both tragic events happened before we rented the building, but apparently, they were warned by previous tenants.

Sometime last year, my officemate told me, the building had been visited by the Spirit Questors, who told the officers that the building was a natural magnet for transient spirits, and that our floor (OH FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING UNLUCKY) is the "gathering ground". they managed to get a lot of them to go to the light, but with new ones coming in all the time, and some old ones and a few new ones staying a while, you can imagine how high-vibed this place is. Looks like i'll be collecting stories.

STORY #1

last month, i was editing, and my officemate, a writer i was partnered with till the end of that job, had gone on home ahead, asking the gopher to go with her. that left me and my girlfriend, who had come to pick me up, all alone on our floor. After they'd been gone a few minutes, I heard someone rearranging papers and stuff in our manager's cubicle, one cube down. I thought he'd come back (or he'd fallen asleep and we'd forgotten about him) so I stood up and walked to the cube, calling out "Sir Wally? Andyan pa ba kayo?"

When I got to the cubicle, it was spotless, like he always leaves it, and the papers on his desk were untouched. thinking I was imagining things, I walked back to our cube (i share it with three writers) to fininsh editing. My girl immediately demanded we go home, "right now, this instant, or ELSE!". She was freaking out all over the place buttrying to look calm...so i thought it would be best if i left what was left of my job till tomorrow. when we got to the car, she finally 'fessed up and told me why she was acting so weird. When I had gone to the back, a black shadow in the shape of a huge man stepped out of the cubicle and stepped through me on the way to the little space between the cubbies.

*am now all chills*

STORY #2

This just happened last night the office is all a-buzz!There was a lull in work recently while the writers finalized the copy, so we all got to go home at seven or eight, except one of the artists. This guy had to finish scanning some images from the database and stayed till past 11. Around 10 pm, he began noticing someone walking around in the space between the cubbies into the Special Events teams cubby. It appeared to be, he said, a large, tall, bald man. He knew that he had been all alone since eight, and thinking that it was his imagination, he ignored the person.

That is, until he saw him a second time.

Freaked, he took down the hats that were in the cubby, still thinking that it was just his mind playing tricks on him. He didnt see anything after that, and the guard came in for the routine check at 10:30 pm, greeting my officemate cordially.

At sometime past 11 pm, my officemate called up one of the guards to come and accompany him downstairs the elevator has a ghost story of its own, and now nobody ever goes down alone if they can help it. The guard came up and waited for him outside the door to the office. As my officemate stepped out, the guard asked, sir, yung kasama ninyo, hindi pa ba uuwi yun? My officemate shook like a leaf as he protested and told him that he had been the only one on the floor when the guard had done the routine check, that he had been alone since eight oclock. The guard told him that he had seen someone sitting in the Special Events teams cubby. When asked what he looked like, the guard replied, malaking mama na kalbo. Waaaah! My officemate could have fainted then and there. The guard even told my officemate to check the log for the night to see verify that he was speaking the truth, and that he had seen two people at 10:30.

When they went downstairs, my officemate immediately asked for the radioed record that the roving guard had sent. The desk guard gave it to him, and sure enough, there it was in black and white 6th floor, 10:30 pm, 2 people, 1 artist.

Creeeeeepy.

STORY #3

We had a photo shoot, and the event finished late at night. the photographer then proceeded to pack things up and head on home.

Now, nobody told him that the elevators here are odd - they stop on the 5th floor, and only the floors 6 onwards are occupied. And what's even stranger, these elevators don't stop there unless you're going home. they don't stop when you're on your way to dinner, or during the afternoon, but if you did a half day, you can be sure they'll stop in the fifth floor before you made your way downstairs. Then they open, wait as if someone has gotten in, then start moving down again.

Anyway, it was late, and since the lower floors were unoccupied, there were no lights on. So imagine the photographer's shock when the doors opened and he saw a black shadowy figure enter when it stopped on the fifth floor.

Unfortunately for him, the elevator insides are totally reflective, and he could see the figure standing behind him all throughout the torturous ride to the ground floor.

As soon as the elevator opened on the ground floor, he raced out, not even minding to get his ID, which he left with the guards at the front desk. He called the next day to tell the other artists what happened, as well as to ask if he can have his ID back. the guards must still chuckle over his speedy retreat that day.
