The Lord Commander of the Kingsguard followed dutifully after the lady. The king having asked him to watch over his beloved wife's sister while she visited the capital. Not that Harrold minded. Lady (Y/n) Arryn was quite the most interesting of women. A lady that knew more about the world. More about the business of men, than any woman that Ser Westerling had ever met. The Kingsguard not sure where she had acquired such knowledge; but putting it down to the hours that she would spend in the library. Trawling through ancient tome after ancient tome. Reading about the great Aegon the Conqueror. All about the histories. About the world that lay beyond the walls of the Red Keep. And today would be no different. The pair making their way through the corridors. (Y/n) smiling broadly at him, as he opened the door for her. The Kingsguard taking his usual spot, as the lady looked through the rows and rows of leather-bound velum.

Despite himself, he couldn't help but smile, as she began to hum softly. Normally, he would be bored with such things. Much preferring to be dealing with more manly pursuits. But with her, he didn't mind. The Lord Commander finding himself thinking about her more and more when he wasn't with her. Finding himself questioning his oath for the first time since his name had been placed in the White Book.

The older man continued to watch, as she reached for a very shabby looking book. Her beautiful eyes scanning the pages as she opened it. He was sure that he had never seen anyone as beautiful as (Y/n). Never met anyone with the same sweet nature as the youngest daughter of Daella Targaryen. With the same kind of passion and drive. Harrold often finding himself answering all manner of questions from the inquisitive younger woman. The Kingsguard standing up straight and shaking the thoughts from his mind as he heard the lady suddenly let out a small, pained noise. Harrold quickly making his way over to where she was.

(Y/n) could help but smile, as she made her way through the long corridors of the Red Keep, that were lit periodically by blazing torches on the stone walls. She had been delighted when her good brother and cousin, Viserys, had assigned the Lord Commander to watch over her during her stay. As soon as he had helped her from the carriage, she had found herself quite taken with the older man. Sure, that there was something particularly fascinating about him. Wondering if he had been handsome in his youth, given how pretty she thought him now. She knew that he was older by a number of years. That he had taken the oath of a Kingsguard quite some time ago. But she couldn't help but find herself thinking. Wondering what could be, if he hadn't taken the White Cloak. If he still could take a wife and have her bare his children.

From the moment that he had been assigned to be her guard, she had felt safe. She had never really liked Kings Landing. Never particularly liked the Red Keep, other than its library of course. But with Ser Westerling by her side, she felt indestructible. As if there were nothing that could harm her. And with him right next to her, she knew that no one would ever try.

A little part of her couldn't understand why he didn't seem to mind spending hours on end with her in the library. She knew that it was his duty to watch over her, but she was sure that he would rather be off training with the other Kingsguards or doing something else much more manly. But he had never complained. He had never asked if someone else could watch over her. The knight simply standing there, until she would make him sit down across from her. Until she would close her latest book and begin to ask him all manner of questions just so that he would speak to her. Just so that he would let down his guard and open up. So, for at least a short time, he would forget about being a white cloak and just be Harrold.

Finally, they found themselves out the front of the library. (Y/n) smiling broadly at the older man, as he gallantly pushed opened the door for her. The younger Arryn shaking her head in amusement as the Kingsguard took his usual spot. Standing stiffly next to where she would normally sit, as she made her way over to the shelves and looked through the rows and rows of leather-bound velum.

She couldn't help but let herself hum, as she discreetly looked between her protector and the manuscripts. The song filling her mind, a simple song of love that she had her sister had learnt from their mother in their youth. The lady wishing that she could actually sing it to the handsome Kingsguard. That she could actually tell him of all the thoughts that she had been having about him. Not that any of her thoughts were ladylike, but still. Sure, that some of them might even make his beard paler than it already was, with shock.

With a little sigh, she reached for a rather interesting looking, shabby old manuscript. Her hand absentmindedly brushing over the pages. The lady letting out a soft yelp, as she caught her finger on the velum. A drop of blood coming from the wound.

"My lady. Are you alright...........?" Ser Westerling enquired, as he raced over to her. Concern evident in his gaze.

"I am quite alright, thank you, Harrold. It is just that I have been attacked by a very dangerous book." (Y/n) giggled, before holding her blooded finger up for the Kingsguard to look at. Ser Westerling looking between the wound and the lady's eyes, before slowly placing her finger in his mouth. Gently sucking away the blood. (Y/n) sure that at any moment her legs would give way, as he continued to look at her. Her body moving closer to his, as he removed her finger and looked at it.

"Better............?" Harrold enquired, as he looked down at her. (Y/n) smiling as she perused the now clean wound. The lady nodding before standing on her tiptoes so that she could place a soft kiss to his cheek.

"Much better, thank you, Harrold." She replied, before taking her book and making her way over to her usual chair. The Kingsguard smiling to himself as he watched her walk away. Sure, that if any woman would be worth breaking his oath for, it would be her.
