Video games they let me escape what was going on in my life
My first game I played was with a friend from down the street
It was halo we were fucking around with the campaign
When we got bored we played the multiplayer against each other
I wasn't any good at competitive things
But we were having the time of our lives
Just two kids playing games to get away from what was going on in their life
Then we started fucking around in gta vice city just using the cheats from the book or that the friend heard of from others
We were best friends but as we got older it was harder to hangout
Last time we talked on the phone I was asking how they completed a challenge on a game to get the minigun
Then it was radio silence from the both of us they didn't stop trying to contact me but my mom changed her phone number so their efforts were in vain
Fast forward I'm a sophomore been going to a new school district since 7th grade
Then a friend came up to me one fateful morning at school as I was going to my locker
Asked if I recognized them and asked who they were when the said their name
It all flooded back to me I was shocked by how much they've changed but I was glad to see them again
It was like we never stopped be friends just lost the ability to talk to each other
To this day I'm thankful for them not just for providing a way for me to escape my hellish home life but for being my friend as well
