A Wasabi x Reader that I thought of. Inspired by the song Oh My Dear by Tenth Avenue North.

(Unedited).

Two years ago, you married your best friend. Wasabi was one of the most kind people on earth. You were thrilled to call him yours. Even though he was a complete wimp, he became braver when he met you. You encouraged him to do exciting and new things. He was completely in love with you and couldn't imagine life without you. Every night, Wasabi would keep you in his arms.

Lately, the distance between you and your husband has grown. It started with him working late. He would arrive home at midnight, eat the leftovers from the dinner you cooked, and fall asleep. You could barely get out an "I love you" and if you did, he was too exhausted to reply. You begged him to take a day or two off, but he knew that you wanted kids, and if his kids didn't grow up healthy and happy, he would feel as if he failed.

You wake up this morning to the cold sheet beside you. Your hand has stopped stretching to find him. Sighing, you wake up and start on your long list of chores. After hours of sweeping, dusting, and washing, you take a shower. When you're done, you sit back and watch TV for a bit. You turn it off when a romantic movie begins to play. Your stomach turns as the thought comes back to your head.

Is your marriage failing?

You push the thought away. To get your mind on something else, you go to the kitchen and begin to prepare dinner. As you're stirring the sauce in a pan, your phone buzzes. You pick it up and read the message.

Heading home. I got off early.

Your lips pull up into a smile. Maybe you could actually fix this. You place a lid on the pot and take your best dishes out of the cabinet. You light candles and place them in the center of the table, and serve the pasta. You run to your bedroom and quickly fix your hair. When you think that you look okay, you walk back into the kitchen. The front door opens. You hear Wasabi's footsteps as he walks across the living room floor. When he sees what's in the kitchen, he stops.

"What is this?" he asks.

"Dinner. I. . . I read that you were coming home early and I wanted to surprise you. I thought that we could sit down and have dinner, since we haven't got a while," you pause. When Wasabi doesn't smile, your idea suddenly seems ridiculous. Why would he want to have dinner with you? You sigh and look down. "You can take your plate to your office and work if you want. I'm sorry. This was silly. I'll clean up."

You turn away and lift the candles off of the table. You're surprised when you're gently pulled backwards. You stop breathing when you feel Wasabi's chest against your back. He takes the candle from you and puts it back in its place.

"You did this for me?" he asks, slowly turning you around.

You nod. "For us."

You're slowly pulled into a hug. You tense up when you feel his arms wrap around yours. It's been months since you've even felt this. "I'm so sorry," he whispers in your ear, "I haven't been a good husband, have I?"

"I haven't been a good wife, either," you respond, tightening your grip around his torso.

"You've been the perfect wife. I was just too blind to see it." He pulls back and slowly leans in. You eagerly reach up and throw your arms around his neck, longing for the feeling of his lips against yours. When they touch, you kiss him back with so much love that had been packed away for almost a year. You have to pull away to catch your breath. Wasabi holds your waist gently. He kisses your cheek. "I love you so much, ___. Will you forgive me?"

"Yeah," you reply, your voice small. You pull him closer against you. "I love you, too."

He steps back and takes your hand. With a small smile on his face, he says, "I wanted to ask you something."

"What?" You question, your eyebrows pulling together in confusion.

"Will you go out on a date with me?"

You laugh. "Of course."

He leads you to the table and takes his seat, and the whole time, he holds your hand in his.
